Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare, aggressive, malignant tumor derived from the adnexal epithelium of sebaceous glands. It may arise in ocular or extraocular sites and exhibits such a variety of histologic growth patterns and diverse clinical presentations that the diagnosis is often delayed for months to years.

A series of 11 sebaceous carcinomas is reported. None of the tumours recurred or metastasized. Two growth patterns were observed: basal-cell carcinomas with sebaceous differentiation, and pure sebaceous carcinomas. Since both these types may occur together they are considered to be merely variants of a single tumour entity.

AbstractCutaneous sebaceous carcinoma occurs almost exclusively on the head and neck and has a significant propensity for recurrence and metastasis. It is easily mistaken for benign conditions, resulting in inappropriate management. Thus, it is important to maintain a high index of suspicion. Despite previous reports, sebaceous carcinoma may occur with

Abstract A case is reported of a large sebaceous gland carcinoma of the buttock; this case is unique because of the atypical location of the tumor and because of its large size. The tumor was also the probable cause of a severe anemia. The subject of sebaceous gland malignancy is reviewed and the relative rarity of the lesion noted.

Intraoral sebaceous carcinoma (SC) is a rare tumour in the oral cavity thought to arise from malignant transformation of oral sebaceous glands. To our knowledge, only six cases of intraoral SC have been reported in the English language literature. The purpose of the present article is to report an additional case and review the literature.

Extraorbital Sebaceous Carcinoma
Archives of Surgery, 1985Although sebaceous carcinoma constitutes 1% to 5.5% of all malignant neoplasms of the eyelid, less than 100 cases arising in extraorbital sites have been reported. We treated two cases of extraorbital sebaceous carcinoma arising in anatomic regions never previously reported, to our knowledge.

Sebaceous carcinoma in the oral cavity is extremely rare, and we have found only four previously reported cases. We describe a fifth case. A wide surgical excision seems to be the correct treatment and estimation of serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) may be a useful tumour marker in the follow-up of intraoral sebaceous carcinomas.
