Oblique derivative problems for generalized Rassias equations of mixed type with several characteristic boundaries

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
This article concerns the oblique derivative problems for second-order quasilinear degenerate equations of mixed type with several characteristic boundaries, which include the Tricomi problem as a special case.

Omnidirectional Ultra‐Broadband Cu/TiO2 Metasurface Absorbers for High‐Efficiency Solar Thermal Conversion and Photothermal Plasmon‐Driven Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface shows selective solar–thermal energy conversion with high‐activity solar/laser‐driven chemistry. The breakthrough is co‐designing broadband FP‐cavity + plasmonic LSPR/SLR resonances in an ultra‐thin metamaterial so that it not only harvests the most efficient proportion of solar radiation but also suppresses mid and IR emissivity. Moreover,

On some regularity results of Jacobian determinants and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The starting point in the theory of the regularity of the Jacobian is the celebrated result due to S. Müller [M] that for an orientation preserving mapping f ε W1,n loc (Ω, Rn), J belongs to the Zygmund space L log L(K) for any compact K C Ω.

Compact local integrated-RBF approximations for second-order elliptic differential problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a new compact approximation method for the discretisation of second-order elliptic equations in one and two dimensions. The problem domain, which can be rectangular or non-rectangular, is represented by a Cartesian grid.

Solvability of degenerate anisotropic elliptic second-order equations with L^1-data

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
In this article, we study the Dirichlet problem for degenerate anisotropic elliptic second-order equations with $L^1$-right-hand sides on a bounded open set of $mathbb{R}^n$ ($ngeqslant 2$). These equations are described with a set of exponents and of

Existence of Solutions for a Coupled System of Second and Fourth Order Elliptic Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
The generalized quasilinearization technique is applied to obtain a monotone sequence of iterates converging uniformly and quadratically to a solution of a coupled system of second and fourth order elliptic equations.

Two‐Dimensional Isotropic Spatial Differentiation Through Complete Polarization Control

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work enables two‐dimensional isotropic spatial differentiation at planar interfaces over a wide range of incident angles by extending the output polarization from linear to elliptical. The choice of incident angle can be used to balance broader spectral response at low angles and higher edge‐detection efficiency at larger angles.

Existence and uniqueness of classical solutions to second-order quasilinear elliptic equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2010
This article studies the existence of solutions to the second-order quasilinear elliptic equation $$ - abla cdot(a(u) abla u) +mathbf{v}cdot abla u=f $$ with the condition $u(mathbf{x}_0)=u_0$ at a certain point in the domain, which is the 2 or ...
