Second-order difference scheme for hyperbolic equations with unbounded delay

open access: yesСовременная математика: Фундаментальные направления
The present paper is devoted to the study the initial value problem for the hyperbolic equation with unbounded time delay term\( \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} \dfrac{d^{2}v(t)}{dt^{2}}+A^{2}v(t)=a\left( \dfrac{dv(t-\omega )}{dt} +Av(t-\omega )\right)

Mixed problem for a third order parabolic-hyperbolic model equation

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы
In 1978, the journal Differential Equations published an article by A.M. Nakhushev, that presented a method for correctly formulating a boundary value problem for a class of second-order parabolic-hyperbolic equations in an arbitrarily bounded domain ...

Finite Difference Method for Hyperbolic Equations with the Nonlocal Integral Condition

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2011
The stable difference schemes for the approximate solution of the nonlocal boundary value problem for multidimensional hyperbolic equations with dependent in space variable coefficients are presented.

A Finite Element Splitting Extrapolation for Second Order Hyperbolic Equations [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2010
Splitting extrapolation is an efficient technique for solving large scale scientific and engineering problems in parallel. This article discusses a finite element splitting extrapolation for second order hyperbolic equations with time-dependent coefficients.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Comprehensive Assessment of Arterial, Tissue, and Venous Collaterals for Evaluating the Infarct Growth Rate: The Multimodal Collateral Score

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Collaterals are crucial factors that influence the infarct growth rate (IGR). We aimed to determine whether a comprehensive multimodal collateral score (MCS), incorporating collateral assessment at the arterial, tissue, and venous levels, is associated with functional independence and provides incremental prognostic value over ...

Differential Item Functioning on the Patient Health Questionnaire 8 by Disease Subtype, Language, Sex, and Age Among People With Systemic Sclerosis: A Scleroderma Patient‐Centered Intervention Network Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Impact of Six‐Month Monitoring Compared to Three‐Month Monitoring of Laboratories During Methotrexate Therapy

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To evaluate whether extending the American College of Rheumatology–recommended monitoring interval for complete blood count and liver function tests in patients receiving methotrexate (MTX) affects timely detection of medication‐related toxicity.

Contact Geometry of Hyperbolic Equations of Generic Type

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2008
We study the contact geometry of scalar second order hyperbolic equations in the plane of generic type. Following a derivation of parametrized contact-invariants to distinguish Monge-Ampère (class 6-6), Goursat (class 6-7) and generic (class 7-7 ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.
