Influence of elevation, climate, snowmelt and floral abundance on body size of solitary bees

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
We measured body size in bee species from a 10‐year specimen collection from Colorado sub‐alpine meadows (2450–3450 m) and tested effects of elevation and annual snowmelt, climate and floral abundance. 2 out of 4 bee species collected across a broad elevation range showed a decline in body size with higher elevations; the other two showed no effect ...

The U‐shaped effect of logic multiplicity on organizational performance: Evidence from the US healthcare industry

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the effect of logic multiplicity on organizational performance and hypothesize that logics may impact performance in view of their sheer number. We further propose that the market logic embedded in the for‐profit legal form can positively moderate the impact of multiple logics on performance.

Inference via the Skewness‐Kurtosis Set

open access: yesInternational Statistical Review, EarlyView.
Summary Kurtosis minus squared skewness is bounded from below by 1, but for unimodal distributions, this parameter is bounded by 189/125. In some applications, it is natural to compare distributions by comparing their kurtosis‐minus‐squared‐skewness parameters. The asymptotic behavior of the empirical version of this parameter is studied here for i.i.d.

Separating the Costs and Benefits of Employee Turnover: A Theory‐Driven Method and Applications

open access: yesIndustrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Employee turnover is costly, but it may also benefit performance through improving job‐worker match quality. Existing studies estimate only the net turnover‐performance relationship, ignoring benefits and biasing cost estimates. We develop a theory‐driven method that separately identifies operational costs and match‐quality benefits of ...
