Arithmetic Satake compactifications and algebraic Drinfeld modular forms

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract In this article, we construct the arithmetic Satake compactification of the Drinfeld moduli schemes of arbitrary rank over the ring of integers of any global function field away from the level structure, and show that the universal family extends uniquely to a generalized Drinfeld module over the compactification.

On a common refinement of Stark units and Gross–Stark units

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to formulate and study a common refinement of a version of Stark's conjecture and its p$p$‐adic analogue, in terms of Fontaine's p$p$‐adic period ring. We construct period‐ring‐valued functions under a generalization of Yoshida's conjecture on the transcendental parts of CM‐periods.

On the wave turbulence theory of 2D gravity waves, I: Deterministic energy estimates

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 78, Issue 2, Page 211-322, February 2025.
Abstract Our goal in this paper is to initiate the rigorous investigation of wave turbulence and derivation of wave kinetic equations (WKEs) for water waves models. This problem has received intense attention in recent years in the context of semilinear models, such as Schrödinger equations or multidimensional KdV‐type equations. However, our situation

Hermite solution for a new fractional inverse differential problem

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 3811-3824, February 2025.
Mathematics, mathematical modeling of real systems, and mathematical and computer methodologies aimed at the qualitative and quantitative study of real physical systems interact in a nontrivial way. This work aims to examine a new class of inverse problems for a fractional partial differential equation with order fractional 0<ρ≤1$$ 0<\rho \le 1 ...

Asymptotic Lower Bound on the Spatial Analyticity Radius for Solutions of the Periodic Fifth Order KdV–BBM Equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this work, consideration is given to the initial value problem associated with the periodic fifth‐order KdV–BBM equation. It is shown that the uniform radius of spatial analyticity σ(t) of solution at time t is bounded from below by ct−2/3 (for some c > 0), given initial data η0 that is analytic on the circle and has a uniform radius of spatial ...

Stability of fronts in the diffusive Rosenzweig–MacArthur model

open access: yesStudies in Applied Mathematics, Volume 153, Issue 4, November 2024.
Abstract We consider a diffusive Rosenzweig–MacArthur predator–prey model in the situation when the prey diffuses at a rate much smaller than that of the predator. In a certain parameter regime, the existence of fronts in the system is known: the underlying dynamical system in a singular limit is reduced to a scalar Fisher–KPP (Kolmogorov–Petrovski ...

Existence and uniqueness for a coupled parabolic‐hyperbolic model of MEMS

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 47, Issue 7, Page 6310-6353, 15 May 2024.
Local wellposedness for a nonlinear parabolic‐hyperbolic coupled system modeling Micro‐Electro‐Mechanical System (MEMS) is studied. The particular device considered is a simple capacitor with two closely separated plates, one of which has motion modeled by a semilinear hyperbolic equation.

Conservation laws and variational structure of damped nonlinear wave equations

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 47, Issue 6, Page 3974-3996, April 2024.
All low‐order conservation laws are found for a general class of nonlinear wave equations in one dimension with linear damping which is allowed to be time‐dependent. Such equations arise in numerous physical applications and have attracted much attention in analysis.

Boundary value problems for nonlinear second‐order functional differential equations with piecewise constant arguments

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 3547-3581, 30 March 2024.
In this paper, we consider a class of nonlinear second‐order functional differential equations with piecewise constant arguments with applications to a thermostat that is controlled by the introduction of functional terms in the temperature and the speed of change of the temperature at some fixed instants.
