Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

First and Second Moment Analysis of Dickson Polynomials of the Second Kind

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
For a given positive integer k and a polynomial fx over the finite field Fq, the k-th moment of fx is defined by ∑x∈Fqfkx. In this paper, we explicitly present formulas related to the first and second moments of Dickson polynomials of the second kind Enx,

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Bernstein operators of second kind and blending systems

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2017
We consider the fundamental polynomials associated with the Bernstein operators of second kind. They form a blending system for which we study some shape preserving properties. Modified operators are introduced; they have better interpolation properties.

A Note on the Poly-Bernoulli Polynomials of the Second Kind

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2020
In this paper, we define the poly-Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind by using the polyexponential function and find some interesting identities of those polynomials.

Sharp approximations for the complete elliptic integrals of the second kind by one-parameter means

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2018
Let E ( r ) be the complete elliptic integrals of the second kind and J p ( a , b ) be the one-parameter mean of two distinct positive numbers a and b defined by J p ( a , b ) = p p + 1 a p + 1 − b p + 1 a p − b p  for  p ≠ − 1 , 0 .

On Second Kind Measures and Polynomials on the Unit Circle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Properties of second kind polynomials, and, in particular, conditions for second kind measures to be absolutely continuous are investigated. The asymptotic representation for second kind polynomials is obtained.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
