Abstract We showed that the integral is independent of the path of integration provided the process is quasistatic and we found that the entropy has some interesting properties: It is useful for representing adiabatic quasistatic processes, S being constant.

The Long Arm of the Second Law
Scientific American, 2008The article focuses on ways in which order emerges from chaos in nature, despite the second law of thermodynamics, which states that a system in equilibrium tends toward chaos, and not the reverse. Nature rarely finds a perfect equilibrium, and the author states that even in chaos, there can be smaller pockets of equilibrium.

The second Engel law: Is it a paradox?
European Economic Review, 2008Abstract The second Engel law says that the Engel curve for food moves out as family size increases, thus showing a decrease in welfare.
