Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Pattern Formation in Non‐Equilibrium Architected Materials
This article demonstrates an artificial mechanical system ‐ a robotic metamaterial ‐ as an accessible and versatile platform within which to explore and prescribe the reaction‐diffusion driven pattern formation hitherto associated with comparatively less accessible and versatile non‐equilibrium biological and chemical systems.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Corrections to Friedmann equations inspired by Kaniadakis entropy
Adopting the thermodynamics-gravity conjecture, and assuming the entropy associated with the apparent horizon of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe has the form of the generalized Kaniadakis entropy, we extract the modified Friedmann equations

The Second Law of Thermodynamics [PDF]
Is it not true that the Second Law of Thermodynamics is contradicted by the known facts of diffusion? When, for instance, masses of hydrogen and nitrogen are separated by a palladium partition, a difference of pressure is set up, owing to the diffusion of some of the hydrogen into the compartment which at first contained only nitrogen.

A segunda lei da termodinâmica
Considering intrinsic characteristics of the system exclusively, both statistical and information theory interpretations of the second law are used to provide more comprehensive meanings for the concepts of entropy, temperature, and Helmholtz and Gibbs ...

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

Universal validity of the second law of information thermodynamics
Adiabatic measurements, followed by feedback and erasure protocols, have often been considered as a model to embody Maxwell’s Demon paradox and to study the interplay between thermodynamics and information processing.
