Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...

Interstellar extinction towards the inner Galactic Bulge [PDF]
DENIS observations in the J (1.2 micron) and K_S (2.15 micron) bands together with isochrones calculated for the RGB and AGB phase are used to draw an extinction map of the inner Galactic Bulge.

Molten KNO2 treatment induces a lowrefractive index disordered carbon shell on fluorescent nanodiamonds, enhancing fluorescence emission while preserving spin coherence. Machine learningassisted correlative TEMPL enables direct single‐particle resolution of this enhancement relative to air‐oxidized nanodiamonds of similar morphology, establishing a ...

Period-magnitude relations for M giants in Baade's Window NGC6522
A large and complete sample of stars with K < 9.75 in the NGC6522 Baade's Window is examined using light curves from MACHO and IJK from DENIS. All 4 of the sequences ABCD in the K vs logP diagram of the LMC are seen in the Bulge.

Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.
