A Modeling Method on Aircraft Engine Based on the Component Method of Secondary Air System

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2014
The dynamic characteristic of transient secondary air system has the significance to ensure the airworthiness safety. This paper provides the component method to solve the secondary air system through the analysis between the component method and network

Secondary Air System

2018
D6 Secondary Air System In this Chapter we show how the very complex secondary air system in a modern gas turbine may be greatly simplified and integrated into a cycle model without compromising the quality of overall performance results. Calculation examples from single and multi-stage turbines are given which describe in detail how to account for ...

The burden of air pollution and temperature on Raynaud's phenomenon secondary to systemic sclerosis.

Epidemiologia e prevenzione, 2020
DISEGNO: studio trasversale, osservazionale e monocentrico.

Secondary Air System Component Modeling for Engine Performance Simulations

Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2008
Abstract This paper describes the modeling of typical secondary air system elements such as rotating orifices, seals, and flow passages with heat and work transfer from the surrounding surfaces. The modeling is carried out in an object-oriented simulation environment that allows the creation of different configurations in a simple and ...

Secondary Air Systems in Aeroengines Employing Vortex Reducers

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 2001
A secondary air system in modern aero engines is required to cool the compressor and turbine discs and make sure that no hot gas ingestion occurs into the cavities between the turbine discs, which could cause an inadvertent reduction of disc life. A high integrity solution for guiding the air from the compressor to the turbine is through

Automated Hex Meshing for Turbomachinery Secondary Air System

2013
In this paper, we present a novel process of creating hexahedral meshes for the turbomachinery secondary air system. The meshing process is automated from the geometry import to the mesh setup and requires minimum human interventions. The core of the process is a hexahedral meshing algorithm with a boundary layer mesh automatically created.

Loss Prediction for Rotating Passages in Secondary Air Systems

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 1997
Modern heavy duty gas turbines operate with high turbine inlet temperatures, and thus require a complex secondary air system to ensure that the blades and vanes are supplied with the required amount of cooling air. Gas turbines with high thermal efficiency and with low emissions require minimum amounts of cooling and sealing air which means that the ...

Separation of Particles in the Secondary Air System of Gas Turbines

Volume 1: Aircraft Engine; Ceramics; Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels; Wind Turbine Technology, 2011
Particles contaminating the secondary air system of land based gas turbines or aero-engines can cause serious problems in various engine components, particularly in the cooling system. The capability of the pre-swirl system in separating particles will be described in this paper.

Measurement and Analysis of Vitiation of Secondary Air in Air Distribution Systems (RP-1276)

HVAC&R Research, 2008
Appendix A of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, describes the recycling of unvitiated ventilation air in a recirculating air-handling system. Equation A-2 considers air delivered through the primary air path (central air distribution system) and secondary air paths, such as fan-powered boxes or transfer-air ...

On the Performance of Gas Turbine Secondary Air Systems

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 2001
The paper proposes a straightforward technique to quantify the performance of a gas turbine secondary air system. By recognising the air system as a component in its own right and performing the calculations suggested the systems engineer should be better able to develop and optimise a given air system.
