Probabilistic Analysis of Stationary Gas Turbine Secondary Air Systems

Volume 3: Heat Transfer, Parts A and B, 2006
In this paper probabilistic methods are applied to a 1D flow model of the Secondary Air System (SAS) of an industrial gas turbine. An overview of the methods applied and the results which can be provided by the probabilistic analysis is given. The paper especially deals with the problems that arise from the high number of probabilistic input parameters

Carbon/air secondary battery system and demonstration of its charge-discharge

Journal of Power Sources, 2021
Abstract H2/H2O-power-to-gas-to-power (H2/H2O–P2G2P) systems that produce H2 by water electrolysis and generate electricity from this H2 are promising large-capacity electric energy storage systems for the extensive installation of renewable energy sources.

Loss Prediction for Rotating Passages in Secondary Air Systems

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 1997
Modern heavy duty gas turbines operate with high turbine inlet temperatures, and thus require a complex secondary air system to ensure that the blades and vanes are supplied with the required amount of cooling air. Gas turbines with high thermal efficiency and with low emissions require minimum amounts of cooling and sealing air which means that the ...

Measurement and Analysis of Vitiation of Secondary Air in Air Distribution Systems (RP-1276)

HVAC&R Research, 2008
Appendix A of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, describes the recycling of unvitiated ventilation air in a recirculating air-handling system. Equation A-2 considers air delivered through the primary air path (central air distribution system) and secondary air paths, such as fan-powered boxes or transfer-air ...

An Integrated Approach to Simulate Gas Turbine Secondary Air System

Volume 7C: Heat Transfer, 2020
Abstract One of the most critical parts of a modern gas turbine that its reliability and performance has a great influence on cycle efficiency is the secondary air system (SAS). Modern systems functions to supply not only cooling air flow for turbine blades and vanes but sealing flow for bearing chambers and turbine segments as well as ...

Automated Hex Meshing for Turbomachinery Secondary Air System

2013
In this paper, we present a novel process of creating hexahedral meshes for the turbomachinery secondary air system. The meshing process is automated from the geometry import to the mesh setup and requires minimum human interventions. The core of the process is a hexahedral meshing algorithm with a boundary layer mesh automatically created.

Process Automation for Aero Engine Secondary Air System Seal Design

Volume 7C: Heat Transfer, 2020
Abstract Secondary air system seals are crucial in aero engine design as they have a direct impact on specific fuel consumption. Their behavior is affected by several aspects of the physics of the system: the air system, the engine thermal physics, the effect of flight loads and several other effects.

Secondary Power System Evaluations for an Unmanned Air Vehicle Configuration

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A Thermodynamic analytical program has been developed to help investigate the impact of power system requirements on Tactical Aircraft (TA) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) performance. The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) program has a user interface that operates in MS-Excel, linking several subsystem ...

On the Performance of Gas Turbine Secondary Air Systems

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 2001
The paper proposes a straightforward technique to quantify the performance of a gas turbine secondary air system. By recognising the air system as a component in its own right and performing the calculations suggested the systems engineer should be better able to develop and optimise a given air system.

Calculating AQI Using Secondary Pollutants for Smart Air Management System

2019
With the onslaught of the industrial revolution, the environment is suffering from severe pollution leading to major imbalances. Air Quality Dispersion Modelling can be done through one of the most efficient model “Eulerian Grid based model”. Various existing methods of prediction work on the basis of models resulting in satisfactory outcomes but with ...
