Mutations of the secondary cell wall

Plant Molecular Biology, 2001
It has not been possible to isolate a number of crucial enzymes involved in plant cell wall synthesis. Recent progress in identifying some of these steps has been overcome by the isolation of mutants defective in various aspects of cell wall synthesis and the use of these mutants to identify the corresponding genes.

Secondary Cell Wall Deposition in Developing Secondary Xylem of Poplar

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2010
Abstract Although poplar is widely used for genomic and biotechnological manipulations of wood, the cellular basis of wood development in poplar has not been accurately documented at an ultrastructural level. Developing secondary xylem cells from hybrid poplar (Populus deltoides x P.

Spontaneous Secondary Spiking in Excitable Cells

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2000
Kepler & Marder (1993, Biol. Cybern.68, 209-214) proposed a model describing the electrical activity of a crab neuron in which a train of directly induced action potentials is sometimes followed by one or more spontaneous action potentials, referred to as spontaneous secondary spikes.

Cell interaction in the secondary immune response

Cellular Immunology, 1971
Abstract This paper investigates the necessity for cell interaction in the in vitro secondary immune response of rabbits to sheep red cells, and attempts to identify and quantify the cells involved. The observed relation between cell dose and response is in good agreement with theoretical predictions from hit theory, and indicates that at least ...

C‐cell hyperplasia in secondary hyperparathyroidism

Histopathology, 1992
Calcitonin is a hypocalcaemia producing hormone and is secreted by C‐cells of the thyroid. The current study was undertaken on a hypothesis that C‐cell hyperplasia may develop in the secondary hyperparathyroidism of chronic renal failure in response to sustained hypercalcaemia. With an immunoperoxidase staining method for calcitonin, C‐cell hyperplasia

Ultrastructure of the secondary cells in the Aplysia eye

Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1977
The ultrastructure of nonreceptor secondary cells (SC) in the Aplysia eye was studied. SC are found along the periphery of the retina, possess a single axon whose branches are found in the neuropile and the optic nerve, and contain dense core vesicles with a mean diameter of 110 nm.

Secondary anchor targeted cell release

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 2015
ABSTRACTPersonalized medicine offers the promise of tailoring therapy to patients, based on their cellular biomarkers. To achieve this goal, cellular profiling systems are needed that can quickly and efficiently isolate specific cell types without disrupting cellular biomarkers.

Secondary cell walls

Journal of Experimental Botany, 2016
Secondary cell walls (SCWs) are produced by specialized plant cell types, and are particularly important in those cells providing mechanical support or involved in water transport. As the main constituent of plant biomass, secondary cell walls are central to attempts to generate second-generation biofuels.

Secondary Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Orbit

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1997
To evaluate the origin and biological behavior of secondary orbital squamous cell (SCC) and mucoepidermoid carcinoma.A retrospective review of 30 consecutive patients with SCC and mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the orbit seen over a period of 8 years at a large ophthalmic hospital in Saudi Arabia.A total of 51 secondary orbital tumors were seen in the 8 ...

Secondary Plasma Cell Leukemia

Journal of Precision Oncology, 2022
Secondary plasma cell leukemia is a rare, aggressive plasma cell disorder with a poor prognosis. Early detection and prompt treatment can increase overall survival. In the current case series, we are reviewing the literature and retrospectively reporting the data of patients who presented to our center over a 3-year period ...
