Secondary electron emission properties [PDF]

open access: yesPhilips Journal of Research, 1996
Abstract In this paper an introduction is given to secondary electron emission properties. It is shown that the reduced secondary emission yield δ δ m as a function of the reduced primary energy E p E m can be described by a universal curve.

Utilization of Secondary Electron Emission Principle in Calorimeter Active Media [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Secondary electron emission is the primary signal formation and/or amplification technique utilized in accelerator beam monitors and photomultiplier tubes where incident energetic particles cause ejection of additional electrons from a secondary emission

Investigation of the Effect of Structural Properties of a Vertically Standing CNT Cold Cathode on Electron Beam Brightness and Resolution of Secondary Electron Images

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Carbon nanotube (CNT)-based cold cathodes are promising sources of field emission electrons for advanced electron devices, particularly for ultra-high-resolution imaging systems, due to their high brightness and low energy spread.

Secondary electron emission characteristics of oxide electrodes in flat electron emission lamp

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
The present study concerns with the secondary electron emission coefficient, γ, of the cathode materials used in the newly developed flat electron emission lamp (FEEL) devices, which essentially integrates the concept of using cathode for fluorescent ...

Electron emission spectra by charging analysis

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
The energy spectra of electrons emitted due to electron irradiation are essential in relevant scientific and technological fields. While the energy spectra of conductor materials are generally acquired using hemispherical electron energy analyzers ...

ITER relevant multi-emissive sheaths at normal magnetic field inclination

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2022
Reliable modeling of macroscopic melt motion induced by fast transients requires the accurate and computationally efficient description of the emitted current density that escapes to the pre-sheath.

Suppression of parasitic secondary emission in a magnetron-injection gun of a 24-GHz technological gyrotron

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
This article analyzes the ways of reducing the parasitic emission current in the electron beam formation system of a technological gyrotron. The operation of the magnetron-injection gun in the quasi-critical mode and the profiling of the cathode can ...

Secondary electron emission in a photocathode rf gun

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2005
During the last decades, photocathode rf guns have been proven to be successful for providing very high quality electron beams required for vacuum ultraviolet and x-ray free-electron lasers.

Secondary electron emission from meteoric smoke particles inside the polar ionosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2016
The charging by secondary electron emission (SEE) from particles is known as a significant charging process in astrophysical plasmas. This work aims at evaluating the significance of SEE for charging of meteoric smoke particles (MSPs) in the Earth's ...

Probabilistic model for the simulation of secondary electron emission

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2002
We provide a detailed description of a model and its computational algorithm for the secondary electron emission process. The model is based on a broad phenomenological fit to data for the secondary-emission yield and the emitted-energy spectrum.
