Electrohydrodynamic Secondary Flow

The Physics of Fluids, 1969
Secondary flow in an electrostatic precipitator in the form of electric wind takes the form of jets emitted from corona wires. Depending on the magnitude of electric Reynolds number of the systems, jet speed may reach several times that of mean gas flow.

Flow electrification induced electrohydrodynamic secondary flow

1999 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.99CH36319), 2003
Theoretical and numerical investigations have been conducted to evaluate the on-set conditions of flow electrification induced electrohydrodynamic secondary flow in smooth pipe and pipe with multiple cylinders in cross flow conditions. The nondimensional parameters control flow electrification and electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow were derived from the ...

Secondary Flow in Rotating Ducts

Journal of Aerospace Sciences and Technologies, 2023
A simulation study is performed on laminar flow of an incompressible viscous fluid through rotating ducts. The ducts considered were rectangular straight, rectangular curved and circular curved. Simulations were carried out at two Reynolds numbers, three rotation numbers and five radii of curvature. Secondary flow is induced due to the rotation as well

Secondary instability in rotating-disk flow

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1990
Primary instability of the three-dimensional boundary layer on a rotating disk introduces periodic modulation of the mean flow in the form of stationary crossflow vortices. Here we study the stability of this modulated mean flow with respect to secondary disturbances.
