Secondary flow in annular cascades
International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 1980Abstract It is shown that in an annular cascade, secondary flow occurs not only as the result of turning a shear flow, but also from the departure of the exit flow from a free-vortex condition. A method is developed for calculating the secondary flow in an annular cascade and this is applied to a set of inlet guide vanes.

Nanofluids suppress secondary flow in laminar pipe flow [PDF]
For the first time it is experimentally shown that free convection in laminar pipe flow with constant heat flux is significantly suppressed by nanoparticles. Moreover, for nanofluid flow with high heating power, an increase above the analytical solution for pure forced convection is lowered by increasing inlet temperature.

Secondary Flows and Losses in Axial Flow Turbines
Journal of Engineering for Power, 1982A simple approach to the estimation of angle variation and losses produced by the secondary flows near the hub and casing of a turbine is presented. The angle variation is predicted by ‘classical’ secondary flow theory, and the loss by estimating three components of the loss and adding them together.

Secondary Flow in Noncircular Conduits
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1978A requirement for calculating an accurate velocity distribution in noncircular conduits is a knowledge of the secondary flow distribution in these conduits. The cause of these secondary flows is considered in this paper and a simple momentum transfer model for Reynolds stresses is used to effect a solution for the secondary flow in a square duct.

Secondary stresses in viscoelastic flow
Journal of Colloid Science, 1951Abstract Theoretical equations are developed for secondary stresses in a shearing viscoelastic fluid. The theory assumes that the elastic stresses developed by the continuous shear also relax continuously in accordance with Maxwell's relaxation theory of viscosity. The steady-state strains are analyzed by the theory of superelasticity.
