Terrestrial green algae diversity in oil palm plantation and secondary forest using 18S-rDNA PCR-DGGE approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The demand for vegetables oils especially palm oil has increased drastically. However, rapid development in oil palm industry leads to many issues, especially regarding sustainable development of palm oil cultivation. Soil algae play an important role in

Microfluidic Engineering of Chitosan‐Coated Nanoemulsions for Controlled Release and Stability in Space Pharmaceutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microfluidic engineering enables the fabrication of chitosan‐coated, melatonin‐loaded nanoemulsions with controlled release and enhanced physicochemical stability for space pharmaceutics. Interfacial biopolymer coating modulates droplet behavior under accelerated thermal stress and simulated microgravity.

Forest Clearing in the Pantropics: December 2005–August 2011- Working Paper 283 [PDF]

open access: yes
This report summarizes recent trends in large-scale tropical forest clearing identified by FORMA (Forest Monitoring for Action). Our analysis includes 27 countries that accounted for 94 percent of clearing during the period 2000–2005.

Above ground biomass-carbon partitioning, storage and sequestration in a rehabilitated forest, Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Forest degradation and deforestation are some of the major global concerns as it can reduce forest carbon storage and sequestration capacity. Forest rehabilitation on degraded forest areas has the potential to improve carbon stock, hence mitigate ...

In Situ Copper Electroplating Turns Material Extrusion 3D Printers Into Metal–Polymer Hybrid Fabricators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An in situ electroplating approach for MEX 3D printing is proposed, enabling copper deposition during the fabrication of conductive polymers. The method combines a printer‐integrated plating head, ML‐based g‐code control, and stop‐and‐go printing, achieving near‐bulk copper conductivity and enabling fully embedded, assembly‐free electronic components ...

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

PD‐1 Inhibits CD4+ TRM‐Mediated cDC1 Mobilization via Suppressing JAML in Human NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CD4+ tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRMs) in non‐small cell lung cancer recruit conventional type 1 dendritic cells via XCL1‐XCR1 signaling, orchestrating antitumor immunity. The costimulatory molecule JAML is essential for this process. PD‐1 blockade restores JAML expression and cDC1 mobilization, while JAML agonists synergize with anti‐PD‐1 therapy,

Assessment of micrometeorology at selected age stands in a rehabilitated forest of Sarawak, Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The micrometeorology varies vertically and horizontally from the forest canopy to forest floor. An assessment of the forest micrometeorological is necessary to understand the interaction between the environmental and biological activities, but such ...
