A COMPARATIVE ANATOMICAL STUDY OF THE STEMS OF CLIMBING PLANTS FROM THE FOREST REMNANTS OF MARINGA, BRAZIL ESTUDIO ANATOMICO COMPARATIVO DE LOS TALLOS DE PLANTAS TREPADORAS DE LOS REMANENTES FORESTALES DE MARINGA, BRASIL

open access: yesGayana: Botanica, 2008
Climbing plants differ from self-supporting plants, such as shrubs and trees, in a range of characteristics, most notable are the mechanical properties of the stem. Liana stems as Pereskia aculeata Mill. (Cactaceae), Pisonia aculeata L.

Effect of Seed Size on Pervaporation Performances Through FAU Zeolite Membrane

open access: yesMembranes
Pervaporation is a compelling alternative to azeotrope-breaking and solvent dehydration due to lower energy demand and strong selectivity compared with distillation.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Locally biosynthesized gibberellins in Populus stems are involved in the regulation of wood development

open access: yesForestry Research
Gibberellins (GAs) are a class of hormonal regulators, which influence various developmental processes in the life cycle of plants. In woody species, bioactive GAs, whose precursors are synthesized by the action of terpene cyclases and carried in the ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Non-canonical hepatic androgen receptor mediates glucagon sensitivity in female mice through the PGC1α/ERRα/mitochondria axis

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Glucagon has recently been found to modulate liver fat content, in addition to its role in regulating gluconeogenesis. However, the precise mechanisms by which glucagon signaling synchronizes glucose and lipid metabolism in the liver remain ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

A new vision of the origin and the oocyte development in the Ostariophysi applied to Gymnotus sylvius (Teleostei: Gymnotiformes)

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology
Based on new knowledge coming from marine perciform species, the origin of oocytes and their development in the Ostariophysi, Gymnotus sylvius is described.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
