Secondary lymphedema: Pathogenesis
Secondary lymphedema follows an acquired defect in the lymphatic system. The common causes leading to a defective lymphatic function include infection, inflammation, malignancy, trauma, obesity, immobility, and therapeutic interventions. Understanding the pathogenesis of lymphedema is of prime importance in offering effective treatment.

Quality of Life Outcomes in Lower Extremity Lymphedema After Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Objective: Lymphedema is a complex condition, and there is limited evidence regarding the impact of lower extremity lymphedema on patients’ health and quality of life (QoL).

VEGF‐C and its receptor VEGFR‐3 are critical for lymphangiogenesis. Cryo‐EM structures of the VEGFR‐3/VEGF‐C ectodomain complex reveal a canonical 2:2 ligand–receptor hetero‐tetramer that further assembles into higher‐order clusters beyond simple receptor dimerization.

ABSTRACT Background Sinus and skull base surgery create areas of demucosalized bone and cartilage in the sinonasal cavity, yet no standardized system exists to describe the progressive healing of these wounds. The goal of this study was to develop the novel Sinonasal Assessment of Reepithelialization (SNARE) and perform parametric testing including ...

Topical captopril: a promising treatment for secondary lymphedema. [PDF]
Transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1)-mediated tissue fibrosis is an important regulator of lymphatic dysfunction in secondary lymphedema. However, TGF-β1 targeting can cause toxicity and autoimmune complications, limiting clinical utility. Angiotensin II (Ang II) modulates intracellular TGF-β1 signaling, and inhibition of Ang II production using ...

ABSTRACT Background Postoperative radiotherapy is the standard treatment for locally advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC); however, the indication for neck irradiation (NI) in pN0 patients remains debatable. We evaluated whether the omission of NI compromises outcomes in pT3–T4 pN0 patients treated with adequate neck dissection (ND).

ABSTRACT Background Dysphagia is a common side‐effect after radiotherapy in head and neck cancer patients. This randomized study aimed to evaluate the effect of the shaker head‐lift exercise (HLE) after 12 months with flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). Methods Patients were randomly assigned to the intervention (n = 30) or the control
