Security Assessment of Cryptographic Algorithms

2017
This article presents a way to assess security of block cryptographic algorithms in universal manner. We presented implementation of test methods that analyse input and corresponding output of a cryptography algorithm and assign a metric for evaluation how strong is the encryption scheme.

Assessing Smart Grid Security

Bell Labs Technical Journal, 2012
The evolution from traditional power networks to smart grid involves many aspects including data network transformation, distributed functionality, and two-way information flow between supplier and customer. Networks are transforming to the use of packet-based communications and the use of newer networking technologies, including optical, Internet ...

Assessing computer security vulnerability

ACM SIGOPS Operating Systems Review, 1995
The lack of a standard gauge for quantifying computer system vulnerability is a hindrance to communicating information about vulnerabilities, and is thus a hindrance to reducing those vulnerabilities. The inability to address this issue through uniform semantics often leads to uncoordinated efforts at combating exposure to common avenues ...

Computer security: A current assessment

Computers & Security, 1982
Abstract The basic question of computer vulnerability is initially explored, including disaster planning and computer fraud. Threat analysis is approached from the viewpoints of cost/benefit trade-offs as well as EDP auditing. A risk analysis approach is used in approaching a possible solution to the problems of vulnerability.

Security Assessment of Node.js Platform

2012
Node.js is a novel event-based network application platform which forces developers to use asynchronous programming interfaces for I/O operations. The native language for developing applications on this platform is JavaScript. Despite its young age the platform has attracted a significant community of developers and gained support from the industry ...

A Framework for Website Security Assessment

Proceedings of the 2019 7th International Conference on Computer and Communications Management, 2019
Nowadays, the Internet plays a crucial role in our society. Among Internet services, web-based services are very popular that become the target of security attacks. Hence, securing websites and connection to the users is important. If we own or manage a website, we certainly concern about how secure it is. For assessing the security level of a website,

On the quantitative assessment of behavioural security

1996
This paper is based on a conceptual framework in which security can be split into two generic types of characteristics, behavioural and preventive. We show that, among the traditional security aspects, availability and confidentiality should be used to denote be havioural security.

Assessment of Network Security Policy Based on Security Capability

2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008
The validity of the security policy has important impacts on the safety performance of network information system. For purpose of verifying it effectively, an assessment model of network security policy based on security capability is proposed. The relationship of defense methods, application targets, and information security attribute characteristics ...

Assessing the Feasibility of Security Metrics

2013
This paper proposes a self-assessment framework that allows a user to determine security metrics that are feasible specifically for the user's ISMS. To achieve this, a metric catalogue containing 95 metrics from different sources was created. The catalogue was enhanced by ascertaining requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to be able to use ...

A Composite Network Security Assessment

2008 The Fourth International Conference on Information Assurance and Security, 2008
This paper presents a new concept of security assessment methodology while promoting several areas of its application. Attack pattern analysis, network security monitoring locally or remotely are the major application areas of this concept. Instead of testing each asset or a network node separately by applying repetitive attacks and assessments, the ...
