A Dust spectral energy distribution model with hierarchical Bayesian inference. I. Formalism & benchmarking

open access: yes, 2018
This article presents a new dust SED model, named HerBIE, aimed at eliminating the noise-induced correlations and large scatter obtained when performing least-squares fits.

An obscured AGN population hidden in the VIPERS galaxies: identification through spectral energy distribution decomposition

open access: yes, 2020
The detection of X-ray emission constitutes a reliable and efficient tool for the selection of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs), although it may be biased against the most heavily absorbed AGNs.

Complex Radio Spectral Energy Distributions in Luminous and Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We use the Expanded Very Large Array to image radio continuum emission from local luminous and ultraluminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs and ULIRGs) in 1 GHz windows centered at 4.7, 7.2, 29, and 36 GHz. This allows us to probe the integrated radio spectral

The global dust SED: tracing the nature and evolution of dust with DustEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The Planck and Herschel missions are currently measuring the far-infrared to millimeter emission of dust, which combined with existing IR data, will for the first time provide the full spectral energy distribution (SED) of the galactic interstellar ...

Large variability in minimal clinically important difference, substantial clinical benefit and patient acceptable symptom state values among literature investigating patellar stabilization surgery: A systematic review

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate minimal clinically important difference (MCID), substantial clinical benefit (SCB), patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) values for patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) after patellar stabilization surgery for patellar instability.

Machine Learning Prediction of Raster Angle Effects on Mechanical Properties of Extrusion‐Based Additively Manufactured Conductive Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study integrates machine learning (ML) and high‐fidelity experiments to model how raster angle influences the mechanical properties of fused filament fabricated conductive TPU composites. Using Poly6 and SVR models, the approach accurately predicts stiffness, strength, and ductility.

Characterizing and Propagating Modeling Uncertainties in Photometrically-Derived Redshift Distributions

open access: yes, 2011
The uncertainty in the redshift distributions of galaxies has a significant potential impact on the cosmological parameter values inferred from multi-band imaging surveys.

Selectrodialysis and bipolar membrane electrodialysis combination for industrial process brines treatment: Monovalent-divalent ions separation and acid and base production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Chemical industries generate large amounts of wastewater rich in different chemical constituents. Amongst these, salts at high concentrations are of major concern, making necessary the treatment of saline effluents before discharge. Because most of these

Mesoscale and microphysical processes leading to extreme hourly rainfall prior to the merger of two mesoscale convective systems in Central China

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Short‐term extreme rainfall can be produced by the variation of low‐level warm moist airflow during mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) approaching another. The cold outflow of the rapidly moving MCS intensifies the warm moist airflow in front, enhancing the convergence and ascending motion in the quasi‐stationary MCS.

Tunable Ce‐Doping Engineering in TiFe‐Based Alloys for High‐Activation and High‐Durability Hydrogen Storage

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT TiFe‐based hydrogen storage alloys have garnered significant attention because of their cost‐effectiveness, high hydrogen capacity, and favorable hydrogen absorption/desorption characteristics. However, practical application was limited by activation challenges and sensitivity to environmental poisoning.
