Sound Event Detection with Sequentially Labelled Data Based on Connectionist Temporal Classification and Unsupervised Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sound event detection (SED) methods typically rely on either strongly labelled data or weakly labelled data. As an alternative, sequentially labelled data (SLD) was proposed.

Effects of Grain Size on the Spectral Energy Distribution of Dusty Circumstellar Envelopes [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.604:238-251,2004, 2003
We study the effects of dust grain size on the spectral energy distribution (SED) of spherical circumstellar envelopes. Based on the self-similarity relations of dusty SEDs derived by Ivezic & Elitzur (1997), we expect an approximate invariance of the IR SED for models with different grain sizes.

Secured‐KDS: Secret key distribution and authentication scheme for resource‐constrained devices

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 1-8, January 2023., 2023
Abstract In the era of the Internet of things (IoT), billions of electrical devices are connected to the Internet and communicate remotely with one another without any human intervention. IoT devices often do not enforce proper security measures; this raises serious privacy and security concerns.

Development of semi-theoretical light radiation and photosynthetic growth model for the optimal exploitation of wastewaters by microalgae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the last decade, interest toward the potential application of microalgae has grown considering their potential use in industrial sectors as human nutrition and health, animal feed and biopolymers. Their ability to use light or/and organic

Integrated spectral energy distributions of binary star composite stellar populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents theoretical integrated spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of binary star composite stellar populations (bsCSPs) in early-type galaxies, and how the bsCSP model can be used for spectral studies of galaxies. All bsCSPs are built basing on three adjustable inputs (metallicity, ages of old and young components).

Sound Event Detection Guided by Semantic Contexts of Scenes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Some studies have revealed that contexts of scenes (e.g., "home," "office," and "cooking") are advantageous for sound event detection (SED). Mobile devices and sensing technologies give useful information on scenes for SED without the use of acoustic signals.

Polar Dust, Nuclear Obscuration and IR SED Diversity in Type-1 AGNs [PDF]

open access: yesApJ, 866, 92 (2018), 2018
Despite the hypothesized similar face-on viewing angles, the infrared emission of type-1 AGNs has diverse spectral energy distribution (SED) shapes that deviate substantially from the well-characterized quasar templates. Motivated by the commonly-seen UV-optical obscuration and the discovery of parsec-scale mid-IR polar dust emission in some nearby ...

The role of step edge diffusion in epitaxial crystal growth

open access: yes, 1999
The role of step edge diffusion (SED) in epitaxial growth is investigated. To this end we revisit and extend a recently introduced simple cubic solid-on-solid model, which exhibits the formation and coarsening of pyramid or mound like structures.
