Sedation and Hemodynamics

open access: yes, 2017
In critically ill patients, several pathological conditions could impair hemodynamic function. However, even iatrogenic factors like sedative drugs, commonly administered to ensure comfort to patients, may contribute to deteriorate oxygen delivery (DO2 ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Monitoring sedation in the critically ill child [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 2010
Summary Sedation is an essential part of the management of the critically ill child, and its monitoring must be individualised and continuous in order to adjust drug doses according to the clinical state. There is no ideal method for evaluating sedation in the critically ill child.

Monitoring of sedation, analgesia and delirium with validated scores.

open access: yes, 2014
Mosaic plot: The areas of the mosaic tiles are proportional to the observed frequency of groups. Both, sedation and pain monitoring. None, no sedation and no pain monitoring.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Auditory evoked potential wave VI as an objective indicator of sedation depth in neonates undergoing chloral hydrate sedation: a double-blind randomized controlled study

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
BackgroundNeonatal sedation depth monitoring is critical yet depends on the subjective Ramsay scale when used and lacks objective biomarkers. Although auditory evoked potential (AEP) wave VI disappearance is linked to reduced consciousness, its use for ...

Capnography and the Bispectral Index—Their Role in Pediatric Sedation: A Brief Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pediatrics, 2010
Sedation in children is increasingly emerging as a minimally invasive technique that may be associated with local anaesthesia or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures which do not necessarily require general anaesthesia.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Monitoring of sedation depth in intensive care unit by therapeutic drug monitoring? A prospective observation study of medical intensive care patients

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care, 2018
Background Analgosedation is a cornerstone therapy for mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care units (ICU). To avoid inadequate sedation and its complications, monitoring of analgosedation is of great importance.
