A Sediment Budget of the Upper Kaunertal
2018This chapter presents the sediment budget of the Upper Kaunertal (Otztal Alps, Austria) for the years 2012–2014 as obtained in the framework of the PROSA (high-resolution measurements of morphodynamics in rapidly changing PROglacial Systems of the Alps) research project.

The sediment budget of an alpine cirque
Geological Society of America Bulletin, 2012Cirques form and evolve as glaciers attack the bed and subaerial processes dismantle the surrounding walls. Collectively, these processes—which can make a cirque longer, or deeper, or both—profoundly influence near-divide regions of glaciated mountains and yet are rarely studied in a systematic way. Toward this end, we developed a theoretical framework

Cosmogenically enabled sediment budgeting
Geology, 2005We used 10 Be and 26 Al to constrain the millennial-scale sedi- ment and nuclide budget for a common, long-studied, but poorly understood landform in arid regions, the desert piedmont. We sampled the Chemehuevi Mountain piedmont, a complex multi- surfaced landform in the Mojave Desert, western United States.

Development of a landslide component for a sediment budget model
Environmental Modelling & Software, 2017Most erosion models focus on overland-flow erosion with fewer incorporating landslide erosion although it is common on hillslopes. Landslide models are typically dynamic, spatially distributed simulations with large data requirements for parameterisation and are often computationally intensive.

A preliminary net sediment budget for the Humber Estuary
The Science of The Total Environment, 2003The Humber Estuary has been the subject of considerable research activity over recent years. Drawing on results from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)-funded Land-Ocean Interaction Study (LOIS) and work to underpin the strategic planning of flood defences by the Environment Agency (EA), a preliminary budget of the net sediment exchanges ...

Sedimentation Rates and a Revised Sediment Budget for Lake Erie
Journal of Great Lakes Research, 1977Present-day sedimentation rates were determined at 50 offshore locations, representative of the depositional basins of Lake Erie. Sedimentation rates were calculated by averaging the weight of sediment above the Ambrosia and/or Pinus pollen horizons, dated at 1850. The rates are variable, ranging from a low of 0 g m−2 yr−1 to a maximum value of 6,450 g
