A Core Sampler with Rectangular Coring Tubes for Soft Sediments
Geografiska Annaler: Series A, Physical Geography, 1972A sediment sampler has been developed for taking short, undisturbed cores in soft sediments. The coring tubes are specially designed for scanning of the cores by x-radiography before they are disto...

Sedimentation in Three Carbonate Cores
The Journal of Geology, 1962Two high-carbonate sediment cores from the mid-Atlantic and one from the Caribbean were analyzed for major constituents by wet-chemical methods. All major constituents appeared to have been deposited at a greater rate during glacial times than during the post-glacial period.

Historical records of organic pollutants in sediment cores
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2014Analyses of sediment core samples are primary sources of historical pollution trends in aquatic systems. Determining organic compounds, such as POPs, in the dated sediments enables the estimation of their temporal concentration changes and the identification of the contaminant origin in local regions.

Sediment Core Chronology and Sedimentation in Coastal Basins of Georgian Bay
Journal of Great Lakes Research, 1990Sedimentation rates were measured in sediment core samples from the coastal zone of Georgian Bay using the 210Pb method. In general, rises in stable Pb and weed pollen substantiated 210Pb chronology. Sedimentation rates were not sufficiently high to take advantage of the DDT rise as a specific and reliable timecheck.

Boreas, 1980
Short cores of soft sediment, used in studying the pollution history of lakes, can be obtained with a plastic tube fitted with a piston and piston wire. If the sediments of deep water are annually laminated (and thus difficult to sample without disturbance) or contain excess gas (which can disrupt the stratigraphy during its escape), a short ‘core’ can

Organic Pollutants in Sediment Core Archives
2015Organic contaminant profiles in lake and marine sediment cores are important for understanding the persistence of pollutants in aquatic ecosystems, as well as for evaluating the success of emission restrictions and regulations. Several different classes of organic contaminants can be reconstructed from cores.

CORRELATION OF SEDIMENT CORES ON THE BASIS OF THEIR MAGNETIZATION
Sedimentology, 1971ABSTRACTSediment cores originating from the Indian and the Atlantic Ocean were investigated. The declination of the cores was measured non‐destructively. In both regions it was possible to correlate several cores on the basis of their magnetization (intensity correlation in contrast to correlation of paleomagnetic reversals).

Core blimey! Jason Stewart and the Sediment Core Samples
2015This resource is a single blog post created as part of the Day of Archaeology initiative. The Day of Archaeology project aimed to provide a window into the daily lives of archaeologists from all over the world. The project asked people working, studying or volunteering in the archaeological world to participate in a 'Day of Archaeology' each year by ...

[Sediment record of DDTs in sediment core from Hongfeng reservoir].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2011In order to reconstruct the chronology of 2,2-his (4-Chlorophenyl)-1,1,1-trichloroethane (DDT) input into the Hongfeng reservoir and assess the pollution issues, the temporal distribution of DDT in sediment core from Hongfeng reservoir was measured using GC/MS method, and the possible sources and potential risk assessment also had been identified.
