Shale Energy Engineering 2014, 2014
This topic will cover erosion and sediment control for natural gas well pads, facilities, and pipelines. Proper erosion and sedimentation control design and implementation is a critical part of the development process for operators in the Appalachian Basin.

ABSTRACT This chapter outlines some of the issues involved in erosion and sedimentation and the major approaches adopted by research investigators in dealing with them. Particular emphasis is given to recent developments in quantitatively describing soil erosion and deposition processes, and to elucidating the consequences of such description in the ...

Dynamics of erosion-sedimentation in River networks
2012 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2012Based on the confluences of the different rank streams, a dynamical model of sediment transport in river network is proposed. A river can be divided into segments by the injection of branch streams of higher rank. Since there are no large fluctuations in stream flow and sediment concentration in a lower-water season, the real process in the river ...

Generalized maps for erosion and sedimentation simulation
Computers & Graphics, 2014Abstract We propose a new approach, based on dynamic animation, to simulate geomorphological events such as erosion, sediment transportation and deposition. It relies on a generalized map representation of different geological layers. The topological evolution of these layers is driven by a set of displacements applied onto the vertices.

Erosion of cohesive sediments as a rate process
Ocean Engineering, 1979Abstract The problems associated with the erosion of cohesive sediment in the marine environment are well recognized. However, the mechanisms of controlling erosion are not well understood. The research to be presented was directed at characterizing the erosion resistance of cohesive sediment through the application of rate process and double layer ...

Erosion and sedimentation of a bump in fluvial flow
Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series IIB - Mechanics, 2000Summary: The two-dimensional laminar quasistationary interacting boundary layer flow with mass transport of a suspended sediment is solved over an erodable bump (or dune) in the case of a fluvial regime. It is assumed that, if the skin friction goes over a threshold value, the bump is eroded, and then the concentration of sediment in suspension is ...
