2D Abrupt Nano‐Junctions Blending sp–sp2 Bonds on Atomically Precise Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A lateral heterostructure between atomically precise sp–sp2$^2$ metalated graphdiyne and sp2$^2$ graphene nanoribbons is realized by on‐surface synthesis and investigated by STM and DFT. The impact of on‐surface synthesis byproducts on covalent junction formation yield is unveiled.

Hydrosedimentary dynamics and sediment source activation during a prolonged extreme rainfall event in a Mediterranean catchment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sediment Research
This study analyses the response of a Mediterranean agroforestry catchment to Storm Juliette, an episode of prolonged rainfall (208 mm in 5 days). Hydrological monitoring combined with sediment fingerprinting using colour tracers and a Bayesian mixing ...

Sediment Sources Analysis Using CSSI Method in Pasir Buncir Micro-watershed, Bogor, Indonesia

open access: yesAtom Indonesia, 2019
There is an increasing need for reliable information concerning the source of the suspended sediment transported by rivers. Such information is required both to design effective sediment and non-point pollution control strategies and to provide an ...

Selective Laser Sintering and Graphitization for Mono‐Matrix Unibody Fabrication of Integrated Stereo‐Circuit and Stereo‐Fluidic Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel selective laser sintering and graphitization (SLSG) 3D printing technology enables unibody fabrication of compacted insulating structures and conductive circuits in fluidic‐integrated wearable electronics through adaptive photonic modulation.

Using two kinds of fingerprint factors to identify sediment sources in a small catchment

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2016
In order to accurately identify sediment sources in the gully and hilly zones of the Loess Plateau, this study was used a composite fingerprinting method that was based on two types of fingerprint factors (14 physicochemical properties and 23 biomarker ...

Assessing the importance of river bank erosion for fine sediment delivery to Bassenthwaite Lake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Available evidence from lake sediment core records and short-term sediment flux sampling programs has suggested increased fine sediment deposition and suspended sediment transfers to Bassenthwaite Lake, Cumbria, U.K over recent decades. This increase in

Unravelling the molecular fingerprint of plastic accumulation on blue carbon sediment

open access: yesEnvironmental Pollution
A disproportionately large accumulation of plastic waste has turned blue carbon ecosystems (mangrove forests, tidal marshes, and seagrass meadows) into hotspots of plastic pollution. Although our understanding of the effects of plastics on coastal ecosystems has advanced considerably, the underlying effects on blue carbon sediment biogeochemistry are ...

Seasonal Variation of Acid Volatile Sulfide and Simultaneously Extracted Metals in Sediment Cores from the Pearl River Estuary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The simultaneously extracted metals/acid volatile sulfide (SEM/AVS) method is widely used to estimate the toxicity of metals in sediment. In this study, SEM and AVS concentrations were obtained by the cold-acid purge-and-trap technique during spring ...

Sources and impacts of inorganic and organic fine sediment in salmonid spawning gravels in chalk rivers

open access: yes, 2012
Poor salmonid spawning habitat due to excessive fine sediment inputs has been identified as a major factor limiting survival in chalk rivers. A lack of knowledge about the complex processes and factors affecting survival was the driver for this study and

SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DYNAMICS OF FINE FLUVIAL SEDIMENT TRANSFER: IMPLICATIONS FOR MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT OF UPLAND RIVER SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Although the impacts of changing land use on the magnitude and timing of erosion in lowland catchments are well documented, much less is known about the transfer dynamics of fine sediment through the upland hydrological networks.
