SEASONAL VARIABILITY OF CENTRAL ARCTIC OCEAN SEA-ICE COVER: NEW BIOMARKER (IP25 AND PIP25) DATA FROM SEDIMENT TRAPS DEPLOYED ON SOUTHERN LOMONOSOV RIDGE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
During the Polarstern 1995 Expedition, a long-term mooring system with two cone-shaped multi-sampling traps was deployed at the dominantly ice-covered western slope of the southern Lomonosov Ridge (81°04.5'N, 138°54.0'E, 1712 m water depth). One trap was

Enhancing Direct Solar Water Splitting via ALD of Multifunctional TiO2/Pt Nanoparticle Coatings With Engineered Interfaces to GaAs/GaInP Tandem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional atomic layer deposited coatings and interface treatments enhance direct solar water splitting on GaAs/GaInP tandem cells. Optimized TiO2/Pt nanoparticle bilayers ensure durability and catalytic efficiency with minimal optical losses, while H2 plasma pretreatments maximize photovoltage and interfacial charge extraction.

Direct field observations of massive bedload and debris-flow depositions in open check dams

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
Sediment detention basins, also called SABO dams, are key facilities in flood protection systems of mountain catchments, specifically in torrents prone to massive bedload transport or debris flows.

Aplikasi Teknologi Bioengineering Jebakan Sedimen di Sub DAS Citanduy Hulu [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Citanduy watershed has been classified as a critical watershed in West Java. Sedimentation load at Citanduy watershed reach 5 milion cubic meters/years. It is indicated that lagoon area “Segara Anakan” was decreased about 823 hectars.

Kinetic Insights into Precursor‐Assisted Soft Sphere Close Packing Revealed by In Situ GISAXS with Implications for Gas Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

Particle flux on the continental shelf in the Amundsen Sea Polynya and Western Antarctic Peninsula

open access: yesElementa: Science of the Anthropocene, 2015
We report results from a yearlong, moored sediment trap in the Amundsen Sea Polynya (ASP), the first such time series in this remote and productive ecosystem.

Composition and Resulting Band Alignment at the TiO2/InP Heterointerface: A Fundamental Study Combining Photoemission Spectroscopy and Theory

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemical composition and band alignment are systematically investigated at the TiO2/InP heterointerface. Thin TiO2 films are deposited by ALD on atomically ordered, P‐terminated p‐InP(100). By combining UPS, XPS, and ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomistic structure and electronic alignment are revealed.

Sediment deposition and accumulation rates determined by sediment trap and 210Pb isotope methods in the Outer Puck Bay (Baltic Sea)

open access: yesOceanologia, 2014
Two methods - in situ sediment trap experiments and an isotopic method based on measurements of 210Pb activities in the sediment cores taken near the traps - were applied for determining sediment deposition and sediment accumulation rates in the eastern ...

Soil carbon and nitrogen erosion in forested catchments: Implications for erosion-induced terrestrial carbon sequestration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Lateral movement of organic matter (OM) due to erosion is now considered an important flux term in terrestrial carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) budgets, yet most published studies on the role of erosion focus on agricultural or grassland ecosystems.
