Visualizing tephra deposits and sedimentary processes in the marine environment: The potential of X‐ray microtomography [PDF]

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2015
AbstractLocalized tephra deposition in marine sequences is the product of many complex primary and secondary depositional processes. These can significantly influence the potential applicability of tephra deposits as isochronous marker horizons and current techniques, used in isolation, may be insufficient to fully unravel these processes.

High-frequency cyclicity in the Mediterranean Messinian evaporites: evidence for solar-lunar climate forcing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sedimentary Research 82, 991-1005 (2012), 2012
The deposition of varved sedimentary sequences is usually controlled by climate conditions. The study of two Late Miocene evaporite successions (one halite and the other gypsum) consisting of annual varves has been carried out to reconstruct the paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental conditions existing during the acme of the Messinian salinity crisis, ~

Depositional environments as a framework for genetic classification of the basic criteria of petroleum potential

open access: yesGeoresursy
Most classifications of reservoirs, seals and source rocks based on the ability of the rock to generate, accumulate and preserve hydrocarbons, and the genesis of rocks is not always taken into account.

New sedimentary unit with subaqueous facies of Curitiba Sedimentary Basin, Southern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology
The Curitiba Sedimentary Basin (CSB) is a small and shallow sedimentary basin, which is part of the Continental Rift of Southeastern Brazil. New exposures allowed for the identification of a subaqueous facies association, named Guatupê Unit, within the ...

Evolution of Depositional Environments in Response to the Holocene Sea-Level Change in the Lower Delta Plain of Nakdong River Delta, Korea

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The Nakdong River delta, located in southeastern Korea, preserves thick and wide sediments, which are suitable for the high-resolution study of the evolution of depositional environments in the lower delta plain area.

A Growth Model for Porous Sedimentary Rocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A growth model for porous sedimentary rocks is proposed, using a simple computer simulation algorithm. We generate the structure by ballistic deposition of particles with a bimodal size distribution. Porosity and specific surface area are calculated varying the proportion of small and larger particles.

Performance Comparison of Surface Sensitizers for Diode Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Polyamide 12

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser‐generated nanoparticles transform standard PA12 powders into high‐performance, dye‐free feedstocks for diode laser 3D printing. Despite identical absorbance at 808 nm, CuS, LaB6, and CB coatings reveal striking differences in fusion and strength—unlocking new design space for recyclable, industrial‐grade polymers.

Incised-valley morphologies and sedimentary-fills within the inner shelf of the northern Bay of Biscay [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Marine Systems 72, 3-4 (2008) 383-396, 2008
This study is a first synthesis focused on incised-valleys located within the inner shelf of the Bay of Biscay. It is based on previously published results obtained during recent seismic surveys and coring campaigns. The morphology of the valleys appears to be strongly controlled by tectonics and lithology.
