Mesoporous Silica Microspheres by Super‐Fast Alkaline Etching of Micrometer‐Sized Stöber Particles
Microscale silica particles are prepared along with a modified, scalable Stöber synthesis using the continuous addition of tetraethoxy silane to an ethanolic solution of ammonia with KCl. Etching with hydroxide ions at 95 °C gave porous analogs within minutes. Monodisperse particles are isolable in high yield after precipitation in ethanol.

Pressure Solution in Sedimentary Basins: Effect of Temperature Gradient [PDF]
Pressure solution is an important process in sedimentary basins, and its behaviour depends mainly on the sediment rheology and temperature distribution. The compaction relation of pressure solution is typically assumed to be a viscous one and is often written as a relationship between effective stress and strain rate.

Bedforms and sedimentary structures related to supercritical flows in glacigenic settings
Upper‐flow‐regime bedforms, including upper‐stage‐plane beds, antidunes, chutes‐and‐pools and cyclic steps, are ubiquitous in glacigenic depositional environments characterized by abundant meltwater discharge and sediment supply.

Combining machine learning techniques, microanalyses and large geochemical datasets for tephrochronological studies in complex volcanic areas: new age constraints for the Pleistocene magmatism of Central Italy [PDF]
Characterization, correlation and provenance determination of tephra samples in sedimentary sections (tephrochronological studies) are powerful tools for establishing ages of depositional events, volcanic eruptions, and tephra dispersion. Despite the large literature and the advancements in this research field, the univocal attribution of tephra ...

Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...
