Characteristics of Lacustrine Diamictite and Analysis of Diagenetic Reservoir Facies in the Neogene Lower Youshashan Formation in the Dafengshan Tectonic Belt in the Qaidam Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1976-1989, April 2026.
Based on field outcrop data, core descriptions, comprehensive thin section data (plain, cast, and fluorescent), scanning electron microscopy, whole rock analysis via X‐ray diffraction, physical property tests, element logging, core recording, and oil pilot tests, we propose utilizing a mature and practical three component classification method for ...

High Geomagnetic Reversal Frequency During the Middle to Late Ediacaran (∼570 Ma) Constrained by Integrated Magneto‐ and Cyclostratigraphy

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Ediacaran–Cambrian (∼635–539 Ma) geomagnetic field is characterized by unusually high reversal rates and markedly weakened field strength. Estimates of these reversal frequencies can reveal key aspects of deep Earth dynamics and their potential influence on surface environments and early complex life.

3-D geological modeling for tight sand gas reservoir of braided river facies

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2015
Considering the poor applicability of conventional geological modeling to tight sand gas reservoir in braided river facies, a modeling method of “multi-stage constraints, hierarchical facies control and multi-step modeling” was put forward taking Sulige ...

Depositional Facies, Sequence Stratigraphy, and Diagenesis of Lower Cretaceous Carbonate Reservoir, Southern Iraq: Implications for Petroleum Exploration

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 312-345, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The Lower Cretaceous Yamama Formation of southern Iraq represents a key carbonate reservoir within Iraq and the Middle East, yet its complex depositional facies architecture and diagenetic alterations present challenges for predicting reservoir quality.

Multidisciplinary approach to revisit the state of activity of a deep‐seated gravitational slope deformation in the frame of the Quaternary geomorphological evolution of the Central Apennines (Italy)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Evaluating the state of activity of Deep‐Seated Gravitational Slope Deformation (DSGSD) is a challenge that requires multidisciplinary analytical approaches. This research focuses on the slope‐scale gravitational process, framing the role of the Quaternary morphodynamics of a river valley where multiple DSGSDs coexist, to reconstruct the ...

THE MICROFACIES, SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY AND GENESIS OF THE UPPER DEVONIAN PHOSPHORITES IN THE NORTH OF KERMAN, SE IRAN

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2020
This research focuses on the microfacies, sequence stratigraphy and genesis of the upper Devonian phosphate-rich deposits in the Kerman province, SE Iran. These deposits are investigated in the Sarashk and Hutk sections, which are the most complete upper

The Messinian Salinity Crisis Between Italy and Albania: The Peri‐Adriatic Depression and Southern Adriatic Basin Records

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 38, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Basin‐scale correlation of Messinian salinity crisis (MSC) deposits across the Apennine–Albanide foreland basin system integrating outcrop and subsurface data. ABSTRACT We reconstructed the geological evolution of the Albanides during the Messinian salinity crisis (MSC), based on the integration of outcrop and subsurface data from both onshore (peri ...

Carbonate sedimentology: An evolved discipline

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Although admired and examined since antiquity, carbonate sediment and rock research really began with Charles Darwin who, during a discovery phase, studied, documented and interpreted their nature in the mid‐19th century. The modern discipline, however, really began after World War II and evolved in two distinct phases.
