Rock typing and reservoir zonation of the Asmari Formation in a gas field, Persian Gulf [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining and Geo-Engineering
In this study, the geological and petrophysical methods were combined to investigate the reservoir characteristics of the Asmari Formation in one of the gas fields in the Persian Gulf.

Silicate and carbonate mixed shelf formation and its controlling factors, a case study from the Cambrian Canglangpu formation in Sichuan basin, China

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2023
Mixed sedimentation is mainly a phenomenon by which siliciclastic and carbonate are mixed under a similar sedimentary environment. The study of the composition of mixed rock can reflect the sedimentary environment.

Lithofacies classification and itssignificance on oil and gas exploration of the Permain Fengcheng mixed shale in the Hashan area, northwestern Junggar Basin, China

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2023
The Fengcheng Formation in the Hashan area of the northwestern Junggar Basin is a complex fine-grained sedimentary rock deposited in a saline-alkaline lake basin and influenced by mechanical, volcanic, chemical, and biological processes.

Steno and the rock cycle

open access: yesSubstantia, 2021
Geologists categorize the basic types of rock according to their origin – igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic -- rather than by their physical properties.

Mars sedimentary rock erosion rates constrained using crater counts, with applications to organic matter preservation and to the global dust cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Small-crater counts on Mars light-toned sedimentary rock are often inconsistent with any isochron; these data are usually plotted then ignored. We show (using an 18-HiRISE-image, >10^4 crater dataset) that these non-isochron crater counts are often well-fit by a model where crater production is balanced by crater obliteration via steady exhumation. A preliminary study on the Earth’s evolution and condensation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2020
Through many field geology observations, the authors find that sandstone and carbonate rocks, which were originally thought to be sedimentary, have magmatic characteristics and should classified as magmatic rather than sedimentary rocks.

A Study on Rock Mass Classifications and Tunnel Support Systems in Unconsolidated Sedimentary Rock

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents new valuable field data and a comprehensive approach to the determination of the rock mass classification and tunnel support systems for tunnels in unconsolidated sedimentary rocks as a special soil condition.

Evolution of major sedimentary mounds on Mars [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research - Planets, 121, 2282, 2017
We present a new database of $>$300 layer-orientations from sedimentary mounds on Mars. These layer orientations, together with draped landslides, and draping of rocks over differentially-eroded paleo-domes, indicate that for the stratigraphically-uppermost $\sim$1 km, the mounds formed by the accretion of draping strata in a mound-shape.

Lithofacies characteristics and reservoir capacity of fine-grained sedimentary rocks of second member of Qianfoya Formation in Yuanba area, Sichuan Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
The shale oil and gas exploration potential of the Jurassic Qianfoya Formation in the Sichuan Basin is promising. However, there is still a lack of understanding regarding the basic sedimentary characteristics and development patterns of fine-grained ...

Pickering Emulsion for Enhanced Viability of Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria and Combined Delivery of Agrochemicals and Biologics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cellulosic emulsions as multi‐cargo agriculture formulations. Pickering emulsions stabilized by cellulose acetate particles provide an effective platform for delivering a range of agricultural cargoes, including plant growth‐promoting bacteria and agrochemicals.
