Late Precambrian glaciogenic sedimentary rocks in southern Africa: a compilation with definitions and correlations [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1973
Evidence of ancient glaciations is summarized, and the terminology dealing with glaciogenic and nonglaciogenic sedimentary rocks is discussed. The term tillite is used as a comprehensive genetic term for both continentally deposited and ice-rafted ...

Worldwide distribution of continental rock lithology: Implications for the atmospheric/soil CO2 uptake by continental weathering and alkalinity river transport to the oceans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The silicate rock weathering followed by the formation of carbonate rocks in the ocean, transfers CO2 from the atmosphere to the lithosphere. This CO2 uptake plays a major role in the regulation of atmospheric CO2 concentrations at the geologic ...

Near‐Infrared Organic Photovoltaic Electrodes for Subretinal Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Organic photovoltaic electrodes based on the D18:Y6 blend enable precise and light‐controlled activation of retinal ganglion cells in a degenerating retina. NIR Light‐driven activation of retinal ganglion cells, tunable stimulation parameters, and biocompatibility with human retinal organoids highlight their potential for next‐generation prosthetics ...

Experimental Poroviscoelasticity of Common Sedimentary Rocks

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2018
The success of geoenergy applications such as petroleum recovery or geological storage of CO2 depends on properly addressing the physical coupling between the pore fluid diffusion and mechanical deformation of the subsurface rock.

Multifunctional Microstructured Surfaces by Microcontact Printing of Reactive Microgels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam‐co‐glycidyl methacrylate) microgels are used as functional inks to create surface‐grafted arrays on glass via microcontact printing. The patterns (10–50 µm widths and spacings) enable stable binding and post‐functionalization with dyes and peptides.

Microplastics from Wearable Bioelectronic Devices: Sources, Risks, and Sustainable Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioelectronic devices (e.g., e‐skins) heavily rely on polymers that at the end of their life cycle will generate microplastics. For research, a holistic approach to viewing the full impact of such devices cannot be overlooked. The potential for devices as sources for microplastics is raised, with mitigation strategies surrounding polysaccharide and ...

INVESTIGATING AN INNOVATIVE MODEL FOR DIMENSIONAL SEDIMENTARY ROCKS CHARACTERIZATION USING ACOUSTIC FREQUENCIES ANALYSIS DURING DRILLING

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 2018
Determining geomechanical characteristics of rocks plays a significant role in all consequent designing stages of geosciences. On the other hand, drilling is one of the considerable operations in primer phases of extracting rocks.
