This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Iron inputs from sediments to the oceans [PDF]
This thesis explores the nature and ubiquity of iron (Fe) inputs from sediments to theoceans. In the last 10 years continental shelf sediments have become widely recognisedas important vectors for dissolved Fe inputs to the oceans, where bacterial ...

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Speciation of Sedimentary Phosphorus in an Urban Wetland: The Case of El Oulfa Pound. Casablanca, Morocco [PDF]
Eutrophication remains a major concern for the quality of surface waters worldwide. This phenomenon significantly restricts water usage. The El Oulfa pond, located in Casablanca, is experiencing advanced eutrophication primarily caused by domestic ...

Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Dynamics of Trace Metal Interactions with Authigenic Sulfide Minerals in Anoxic Sediments
pgs. 187-199Sediments are the dominant sink for trace metals of environmental concern in most aquatic environments. It is consequently important to understand the chemical behavior of trace metals in sediments in order to assess their potential impact on

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Short-term fate of phytodetritus in sediments across the Arabian Sea Oxygen Minimum Zone [PDF]
The short-term fate of phytodetritus was investigated across the Pakistan margin of the Arabian Sea at water depths ranging from 140 to 1850 m, encompassing the oxygen minimum zone (~100–1100 m).
