Apparent OSL ages of modern deposits from Fåbergstølsdalen, Norway : implications for sampling glacial sediments

open access: yes, 2013
This work was funded by NERC, grant number F008589/1The application of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating within glacial settings can be limited where sediments have not had their OSL signal fully reset by sunlight exposure.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Assessing the effects of model parameter assumptions on surface-wave inversion resultsKey points

open access: yesEarthquake Science
Surface-wave inversion is a powerful tool for revealing the Earth’s internal structure. However, aside from shear-wave velocity (vS), other parameters can influence the inversion outcomes, yet these have not been systematically discussed.

Erosion and Sedimentation

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1971
Research activities in erosion and sedimentation processes have expanded broadly during the past several years and have kept pace with generally accelerated developments in all phases of hydrology and water resources investigations.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Characterization of Deformation Driven by the South-to-North Water Diversion and Extreme Rainfall Along the Taihang Piedmont Using Time-Series InSAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Long-term groundwater overexploitation in the North China Plain has triggered severe land subsidence. Meanwhile, the implementation of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion (SNWD) project and extreme precipitation events driven by ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Frações da matéria orgânica e propriedades redox de substâncias húmicas em sedimentos de oceanos profundos

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2013
Previous studies have verified that free radicals such as quinone moieties in organic matter participate in the redox reactions in natural systems. These functional groups were positively correlated with the increase in aromaticity and hydrophobicity of ...
