Environmental-Economic Accounting-Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA-EA) in Tourism

open access: yesEarth: Environmental Sustainability
Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the global economy. It influences policies and strategies of many destinations at different spatial scales. It also has a significant impact on the environment and ecosystem services (ES). This effect further impacts the sustainability of tourism and the achievement of the Sustainable Development ...

Ecosystem Accounting for Marine-Based Tourism provided by Posidonia oceanica in Italy [PDF]

open access: yesOne Ecosystem
This work presents the first ecosystem accounts for Marine-Based Tourism (MBT) in Italy. We develop a methodological approach to connect biophysical and economic information required to fill ecosystem accounting supply and use tables.

Job Switching Motives and Employer Attractiveness: A Comparative Analysis of Sector Switchers and Non‐Sector Switchers

open access: yesPublic Administration Review, Volume 86, Issue 3, Page 769-791, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Attracting talent to public administration is a highly relevant issue of practical concern and scholarly debate. Building on unique survey data of 424 individuals who switched jobs to join public administration, this study explores public employer attractiveness in a multi‐incentive setting, accounting for the experiences of a less explored ...

Compartmental Modeling of Woodland Ecosystem Services for Evaluating Urban Natural Capital in Sustainable Cities

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Proposed engineering data governance model for ecosystem services within the context of natural capital and sustainable cities, using woodland as a case study. This model is inspired by the generalized natural capital logic chain outlined by Natural England, supported by insights from the Office for National Statistics report and aligned with the ...

Harnessing iEcology data to uncover invasive species behaviour

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 1022-1031, April 2026.
Abstract Invasive animal species threaten ecosystems, biodiversity and human livelihoods. Behavioural traits such as boldness, exploratory tendencies, learning ability and social interactions are known to influence invasion success. Yet these behavioural traits remain underexplored due to challenges in observing behaviour across large spatial and ...

Century‐long trends in plant diversity of temperate mountain vegetation are modulated along elevation gradient

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 3, March 2026.
Resurvey studies in mountain forests of the Tatra Mountains (Central Europe) show that plant diversity has increased over the past century, particularly at lower elevations. These shifts were associated more with increased nitrogen deposition and reduced grazing pressure than with direct climate warming.

Urban Ecosystem accounts following the SEEA EA standard: A pilot application in Europe

open access: yes, 2023
National and local authorities are promoting restoration actions in urban areas to mitigate societal challenges such as urban heat island, poor air quality or biodiversity loss. Urban re-greening is among the implementation actions supporting targets of the European Green Deal, EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, its proposal for a Nature Restoration Law ...

A novel mechanism of auxin habituation: upregulation of auxin receptor TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE 1 allows cell proliferation independent of external auxin

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1268-1282, February 2026.
Summary Exogenously applied auxins are essential for establishing cell lines in tissue cultures and maintaining their proliferation. Cell lines may develop the ability to proliferate even in media lacking auxin, they may become auxin‐habituated. This study investigated the mechanisms underlying this process.

EU-wide methodology: towards operationalisation of the SEEA EA condition accounts in the EU

open access: yes, 2022
The EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 anticipates the development of an EU-wide methodology to map, assess and achieve good condition of ecosystems. The Joint Research Centre (European Commission) has led the development of such methodology, making use of the System of Environmental Economic Accounting - Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA) of United Nations

A pan‐European citizen science study shows population size, climate and land use are related to biased morph ratios in the heterostylous plant Primula veris

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.
A large‐scale citizen science study involving thousands of cowslip (Primula veris) observations from all over Europe revealed an unexpected prevalence of S‐morphs over L‐morphs, which was influenced by climatic as well as land use factors. Furthermore, general morph ratios were often unbalanced with the strongest shifts occurring in smaller populations.
