Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Morphological Correlation of Diaspores, Seeds and Vigor of Seedlings of Guilandina bonduc L. (Fabaceae): Does Seed Mass Modulate Tolerance to Salt Stress?

open access: yesSeeds
Guilandina bonduc L. is a pantropical coastal shrub with varied fruits and seeds, capable of germinating under saline stress. This study aimed to morphologically characterize the fruits and seeds of the species, correlate these characteristics, and ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Soil seed bank dynamics in Mediterranean urban vegetation fragments

open access: yes, 2012
Conservation of biodiversity in urban vegetation fragments is of increasingly high importance with growing urbanisation globally, particularly so in the biodiversity hotspot of the Mediterranean southwest of Western Australia.

Soil vs. canopy seed storage and plant species coexistence in species-rich Australian shrublands

open access: yes, 2007
The fire-prone shrublands of southwestern Australia are renowned for their high plant species diversity and prominence of canopy seed storage (serotiny).

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Seed development, yield and quality of two palm species growing in different tropical forest types in SE Brazil: implications for ecological restoration

open access: yes, 2011
Natural forest remnants have been set as seed production fields to supply seeds of native tree species for tropical forest restoration, but the effect of different forest types on seed production has not been accessed to date for palm species.
