The Long Arc of Forest Land Dispossession and Degradation—Firm and State Actions on Sámi Lands in the Wood‐Based Commodity Frontier in Northern Sweden, 1673–1955

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article presents a new way of obtaining deep explanations of environmental problems. We expose the production strategies, corporate strategies and state actions that have been taken by firms and state agencies to facilitate the geographical expansion of the wood‐based commodity frontier at the expense of reindeer pastoralists among the ...

PENGARUH SKARIFIKASI DAN MEDIA TUMBUH TERHADAP VIABILITAS BENIH DAN VIGOR KECAMBAH AREN

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Pertanian Indonesia, 2008
The research aims to find out the effect of seed scarification and germination substrat to seed viability and seedling vigor of aren. The Experiment applied a group random design (RAK) with factorial style consiting of two factors.

Escarificação mecânica em sementes de chichá (Sterculia foetida L.) Mechanical scarfication on seeds of Sterculia foetida L.

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2004
Espécies florestais com sementes duras freqüentemente apresentam consideráveis problemas para os viveiristas, porque seus tegumentos duros e impermeáveis à água dificultam e retardam a germinação.

Dodder seedlings benefit from apoplastic nutrition by inducing SWEET15‐mediated unloading of sucrose from the host's phloem

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Cuscuta reflexa infection sites. Summary Cuscuta species are holoparasitic plants that penetrate host stems with haustoria, connect to the vasculature and exhaust water, nutrients and carbohydrates. Parasite seedlings possess only limited maternal reserves and the development of a vascular connection takes several days.

Optimal scarification times for seeds of two Mediterranean orchids

open access: yesEUROPEAN JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, 2019
A critical step during the in vitro sexual propagation of Mediterranean orchids is the treatment of seeds with a disinfecting solution thatalso serves to scarify the seeds. If the seeds are not properly disinfected, microorganisms grow within the culture vessel, thus reducingthe efficacy of the process in terms of the extra time and materials required.

MtGRF8 interacts with MtSymCRK and prevents early bacteroid death during Medicago – Sinorhizobium symbiosis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
MtSymCRK–MtGRF8‐14‐3‐3a, e, h and i functional model in R‐108 nodules. Summary In Medicago littoralis R‐108, Symbiotic CYSTEINE‐RICH RECEPTOR‐LIKE KINASE (MtSymCRK) is required to prevent defense reactions in symbiotic nodules during chronic infection.

Methyl Jasmonate Seed Priming Mitigates the Defence‐Growth Trade‐Off and Tailors Plant Response to Specific Pests

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed defence priming is emerging as a novel, cost‐efficient and environmentally safe tool for pest management. It has been proposed as a means to uncouple the defence‐growth trade‐off in plants by enhancing defence responses with minimal fitness costs, but the mechanisms underlying this role remain elusive.

Seed anatomy and water uptake and their relation to seed dormancy of Ormosia paraensis Ducke

open access: yesJournal of Seed Science
: Ormosia paraensis Ducke has ornamental seeds widely used in the manufacture of bio-jewels and wood used in the furniture industry. For seedling production, the information on its seed physiology is scarce.

Circular RNAs in Lotus japonicus Responses to Nutrient Supply and Mesorhizobium Symbiosis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Symbiotic interactions between legumes and rhizobia enable nitrogen fixation under low nutrient conditions. The establishment and function of symbiotic interactions require coordinated changes in gene expression in both the host and the microbe. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous gene‐specific molecules that can regulate transcription and
