The effect of temperature, seed colour and linolenic acid concentration on germination and seed vigour in flax

open access: yes, 1999
In Canada, the edible-oil type of flax (Linum usitatissimum) known as solin must have a linolenic acid concentration of less than 5% and a yellow seed colour. The yellow seed distinguishes solin from regular, high-linolenic acid linseed flax.

Influence of variety and harvesting stage on germination and vigour of mung bean (Vigna radiata) seeds

open access: yesDiscover Agriculture
Mung bean seed quality is greatly affected by the inherent difficulty of determining the optimal harvest time, which is further complicated by asynchronous flowering and pod maturation, resulting in considerable losses. This study assessed how harvesting

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 43, 29 May 2026.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Effect of Xanthan gum seed coating on seed germination and seedling vigour of finger millet (Eleusine coracana L.)

open access: yesEnvironment Conservation Journal
Six Hydrophilic polymers Xanthan Gum, Iota Carrageenan, Kappa Carrageenan, Agar Agar, Food grade Agar and Gellan Gum were studied for polymerization potential and water holding capacities. Among the six polymers, Xanthan gum and Iota Carageenan recorded

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Soybean seed vigour under different testing methods

open access: yes, 2010
Seed vigour of four soybean genotypes was studied by a standard and the Cold test method on three soil types. A low temperature and worse substrates caused the reduction of germination, length of the hypocotyls, seedling primary roots and the emergence ...
