Lodging studies inLolium perennegrown for seed: 1. Seed yield and seed yield components

The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1978
SummaryThe effects of lodging on the seed yield of S. 23 and S. 24 perennial ryegrass were investigated in a series of field experiments from 1973 to 1976. Natural lodging severely reduced seed yield in all years as a result of a decrease in the number of seeds per unit area.

Variability and Correlation Between the Seed Yield, Seed Yield Components and Quality of Alfalfa Seed

2010
Seed yield and seed yield components (stem height, number of stems per m2, panicle branches) and quality of alfalfa seed (germination and mean seed weight), were studied for 3 years of research. Three cultivars of alfalfa from Serbia (NS-Slavija, NS-Medijana and Zajecarska 83) and French cultivar Europe were observed.

Yield enhancement genes: seeds for growth

Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 2005
Yield is a multifactorial trait, integrating various developmental and physiological processes. Despite this complexity, evidence is mounting that yield can be increased by the genetic modification of single genes. Positive results have been obtained by targeting different yield constituents, indicating that there is ample room for further yield ...

SEED YIELD, SEED WEIGHT, PERCENT PROTEIN AND PROTEIN YIELD OF FIELD PEAS AS AFFECTED BY SEEDING DATES

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1977
The effects of seeding dates on yield, seed weight, percent protein and protein yield of field peas (Pisum sativum L.) were determined by seeding four cultivars at five dates from 1970 to 1973 at two locations in Manitoba. Early seeding resulted in higher yields and heavier seeds.

Seeding date influence on camelina seed yield, yield components, and oil content in Chile

Industrial Crops and Products, 2011
Abstract Camelina (Camelina sativa L.) was introduced for the first time in Chile in 2008 as a potential feedstock for biodiesel and also as high omega-3-containing seed oil for the salmon feed industry. The objective of this study was to determine the optimum seeding date to maximize camelina seed yield in South Central Chile.

Breeding for Grass Seed Yield

2010
Seed yield is a trait of major interest for forage and turf grass species and has received increasing attention since seed multiplication is economically relevant for novel grass cultivars to compete commercially.
