Seeds

2020
A wide variety of plant species provide edible seeds. Seeds are the dominant source of human calories and protein. The most important and popular seed food sources are cereals, followed by legumes and nuts. Their nutritional content of fiber, protein, and monounsaturated/polyunsaturated fats make them extremely nutritious.

Seed to seed

Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 2005
Michael Fenner's 1985 book entitled Seed Ecology was packed with information about seeds, and served an important role in stimulating many students to become involved in this field. Now, Michael Fenner and Ken Thompson have expanded this book from 42 000 to 94 000 words and from 334 to 1117 cited references in their new book The Ecology of Seeds. As in

Seed dispersal by neotropical seed predators

American Journal of Primatology, 1998
From a plant's perspective, the difference between a seed predator and a seed disperser should be straightforward: attract animals that will disperse seeds and defend seeds from potential predators. Unlike pulp-eating frugivores, seed predators regularly encounter diverse plant protective mechanisms.

Wave seeds

2011 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2011
This paper proposes a new algorithm to simulate fluid surface waves for real-time graphics applications. The external forces and object-interactions are described by a set of wave seeds. A wave seed is a physically-based wave model, which contains all information needed to present the waves.

Update on SEED: SEED-192/256

2009
SEED is a 128-bit block cipher with a 128-bit secret key. Since it supports only a 128-bit secret key, it is difficult to apply this algorithm to various environments. In this paper, we propose SEED-192/256 which support 192/256-bit secret keys, respectively.

Seeds in the liver

Acta Histochemica, 2017
The liver is a crucial organ for homeostasis and has a tremendous self-renewal and regenerative capacity. It has long been believed that the self-renewal and repair of the liver within a given physiological condition or its repopulation in chronic liver diseases, when hepatocyte proliferation is impaired, will primarily be conducted by the ...
