Habitat heterogeneity and biotic interactions mediate climate influences on seedling survival in a temperate forest

open access: yes, 2023
Seedling stage has long been recognized as the bottleneck of forest regeneration, and the biotic and abiotic processes that dominate at seedling stage largely affect the dynamics of forest. Seedlings might be particularly vulnerable to climate stress, so

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

Early field performance of three planted inland northwest conifer species: Effects of root growth potential, morphology, and environmental conditions

open access: yesForest Ecosystems
A common concern to planting for reforestation is seedling failure that is directly measurable by seedling early field performance of growth and survival.

Seedling Diversity and the Homologies of Seedling Organs in the Order Poales (Monocotyledons) [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Botany, 2007
Seedlings of monocots are much more diverse than those of other angiosperms, often with very derived character states. This makes morphological interpretation difficult. The morphology of seedlings of most of the 16 families of the Poales alliance are only incompletely known.

Histone Modification Complex JMJ704‐HDA709 Negatively Regulates Salinity Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the rice histone demethylase JMJ704 interacts with HDA709―a H3K9ac deacetylase characterized herein―to form a chromatin‐modifying complex. Under salt stress, OsWRKY72 recruits this complex through interaction with JMJ704 to target loci, repressing the expression of oxidative stress and salt‐responsive genes via removal of ...

Identification and analysis of ARF gene family in Huperzia serrata based on full-length transcriptome

open access: yesGuangxi Zhiwu
Auxin response factor (ARF) is a transcription factor family that mediates auxin signaling and regulates various biological processes. To investigate the ARF gene family members and their roles in response to high temperature and drought stress, the ...

Discovery and Engineering of a Rat Endogenous Retrovirus Reverse Transcriptase for Efficient Prime Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We screened 558 reverse transcriptases and engineered an optimized rat endogenous retrovirus‐derived variant, enRERV‐RT, via structure‐guided engineering and deep mutational scanning. This enhanced prime editor, based on the engineered RT, outperforms conventional M‐MLV‐RT systems across plant and animal cells, particularly at hard‐to‐edit loci ...

Morfo-anatomia de plântulas e número cromossômico de Cybistax antisyphilitica (Mart.) Mart. (Bignoniaceae) Seedling morpho-anatomy and chromosome number of Cybistax antisyphilitica (Mart.) Mart. (Bignoniaceae)
