Variation in Seedling Recruitment of Cape Proteaceae after Fire
The Journal of Ecology, 1984(1) Seedling recruitment of closed cone (serotinous) Proteaceae was surveyed in thirty-one burnt areas in mature mountain fynbos of the Southern Cape, South Africa. (2) The number of seedlings per pre-burn individual (parent) varied greatly from fire to fire.

Seed dispersal and seedling recruitment: The missing link(s)
Écoscience, 1995Abstract:Typically seed rain density decreases as a function of distance from the parent plant. Most models of recruitment assume a seed (and a seedling) mortality function monotonically decreasing with distance from the parent (hence, positively density-dependent). This results in either higher recruitment at a distance from the parent (Janzen-Connell
