Modeling the impacts of grazing management on livestock behavior and performance: A case study in the Peruvian Andes

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Our modeling study shows that livestock management strongly influences grazing behavior and animal performance in the Peruvian Andes. Furthermore, adjusting stocking rates and improving animal distribution can enhance forage intake and body condition while increasing forage biomass.

Microbiome‐mediated plant‐soil feedbacks as a tool for resilient agriculture

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Translating plant‐soil feedbacks (PSFs) into reliable agricultural management requires shifting from input‐dependent practices toward endogenous, process‐driven crop resilience. To bridge this gap, we propose a predictive framework centered on three strategic interventions: engineering the crop holobiont, diversifying the soil habitat, and deploying ...

Seedling vigor of 80 recombinant chromosome substitution lines (RCSL) of barley (Hordeum vulgare)

open access: yes, 2011
The seedling vigor of 80 barley recombinant chromosome substitution lines (RCSLs) was measured for selecting high seedling vigor genotypes. The RCSLs were derived from a cross between H. vulgare subsp. spontaneum and H. vulgare subsp.

Navigating the future of nano‐pesticides: A perspective on design, efficacy, mechanisms, and environmental stewardship

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Nano‐pesticides are driving a paradigm shift toward sustainable plant protection. This review systematically synthesizes recent advances across four interconnected domains: (i) intelligent formulation design for targeted delivery and controlled release; (ii) interfacial behavior regulation to enhance foliar deposition; (iii) multi‐omics elucidation of ...

Non-destructive phenotyping for early seedling vigor in direct-seeded rice

open access: yes
Early seedling vigor is an essential trait of direct-seeded rice. It helps the seedlings to compete with weeds for water and nutrient availability, and contributes to better seedling establishment during the initial phase of crop growth.

Partitioning the Genetic Variability for Seedling Growth in Sand Bluestem into Its Seed Size and Seedling Vigor Components

open access: yes, 1984
Spaced plants of \u27Goldstrike\u27 sand bluestem (Andropogon halliiHack.) were used to obtain estimates of the genetic variances for caryopsis weight, seedling weight at 8 weeks which was used as a measure of seedling growth, and 1st year forage yields.

The effect of vetch seed size on the seed quality and on seedling vigor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Common vetch (Vicia sativaL.) in Serbia has the highest economic importance of the species Vicia. It is mostly cultivated jointly with cereals (oats, wheat, and triticale). It is rarely grown in pure culture due to flattening.
