SEEPAGE MODELING IN EMBANKMENT DAMS WITH VARIOUS SUB SOIL CHARACTERISTICS

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering
The earthfill dam might be built for all subsoils condition, however the common problems are the seepage flow and dam stability. This study uses numerical simulation model for seepage discharge and slope stability analysis. The characteristic of the dam

Experiences of Drainage and Associated Impacts: A Qualitative Study Among Patients With Hidradenitis Suppurativa

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
This study provides an in‐depth account of patients' experiences of drainage as a symptom of hidradenitis suppurativa. The HIDE Scale© facilitates incorporation of these insights into clinical practice, supporting person‐centred approaches that enhance clinical assessment, reduce stigma, and strengthen patient–clinician communication.

Effects of wave-induced two-dimensional seepage flow on sediment incipient motion

open access: yes, 2020
Sediment incipient motion is the first stage of the whole process of local scour around a marine infrastructure. Most previous investigations ignored seepage flow on the mobility of bed particles except a recent study including the effects of vertical ...

Bevacizumab‐Associated Eczema Herpeticum in Metastatic Ovarian Carcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eczema herpeticum (EH) is a rare but potentially life‐threatening cutaneous infection caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV), classically associated with atopic dermatitis. Its occurrence in oncology patients receiving anti‐angiogenic targeted therapy and cytotoxic chemotherapy is exceedingly uncommon.

Endoscopic Suture Ligation and Sclerotherapy for Pharyngolaryngeal Venous Malformation

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study evaluated suture ligation combined with sclerotherapy in 53 patients with pharyngolaryngeal venous malformations. A single procedure achieved complete resolution in 79.25% of cases, with no serious complications or need for prophylactic tracheostomy.

Seepage analysis of the headwork of Chanda Mohana irrigation scheme, Nepal

open access: yes, 2011
Most of the irrigation schemes in Nepal are in the Terai (plain) Region. Most of the weir type irrigation headworks built in alluvial rivers in Terai fail due to seepage before the end of their economic life period.

A machine learning assisted method for rapidly annotating benthic megafauna in large volumes of marine imagery

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent technological advancements have rapidly expanded our capacity for collecting image data in the marine environment, but processing images into meaningful ecological metrics remains a manual, time‐consuming, and biased process. This is particularly challenging with electro‐optical cabled imaging systems which generate images at a rate ...

Seepage Characteristics and Critical Scale in Gas-Bearing Coal Pores Under Water Injection: A Multifractal Approach

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
To investigate the flow characteristics of movable water in coal under the influence of micro-nano pore fractures with multiple fractal structures, this study employed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and multifractal theory to analyze gas–water seepage ...

A Coupled Extended Finite Element–Cohesive Zone Model for Hydraulic Fracture Propagation Under Poroelastic Effects Across Different Propagation Regimes

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing remains challenging due to the strong coupling between geomechanics and fluid flow when modelling multiple physical mechanisms of rock deformation, fracture evolution and fluid leak‐off. This study develops a coupled hydraulic fracture propagation framework that combines the extended finite element ...
