A Three-field Coupled Model for Seepage Failure
A new model for seepage failure has been established in this study. Seepage field, particle concentration field, stress field and interactions among them are simultaneously taken into consideration in this fluid-soil coupling system.

Optimizing Stratification in Binary Colloidal Supraparticles
Supraparticles from binary particle populations show stratification when dried at high Péclet numbers. In spray‐dried systems at high initial particle concentration and fast drying conditions optimal combinations of particle size ratios and volume fractions that produce maximal stratification are found both in experiment and simulation, contrasting the

The authors develop a deep learning model for real‐time tracking of wound progression. The deep learning framework maps the nonlinear evolution of a time series of images to a latent space, where they learn a linear representation of the dynamics. The linear model is interpretable and suitable for applications in feedback control.

Seepage losses in the Coleambally Irrigation Area – loss estimates from channel automation data
Seepage from open channels is a major source of water loss across all irrigation districts in Australia. Pondage tests are acknowledged as the best direct method for seepage measurement, and the recorded water-level data from automated systems during ...

Abstract Premise Changing climates are leading to more frequent and severe heat waves, potentially threatening plant populations. Both acclimation to stress and selection for heat‐escape or heat‐resistance phenotypes occur during heat waves. However, plastic responses and selection do not necessarily interact cohesively—even producing trait responses ...

The Insistence of Blackness and the Persistence of Antiblackness in Ireland
ABSTRACT This paper positions Ireland as a critical site for examining the insistence of blackness and an antiblackness created and sustained through Irish ethnonationalist imaginaries and exclusionary processes. Drawing on connected sociologies and Irish Black Studies, this enquiry argues that antiblackness in Ireland operates as a generational force,

Description and Application of A Model of Seepage under A Weir Including Mechanical Clogging
The paper discusses seepage flow under a damming structure (a weir) in view of mechanical clogging in a thin layer at the upstream site. It was assumed that in this layer flow may be treated as one-dimensional (perpendicular to the layer), while ...
