Comparability of Segmented Line Regression Models

Biometrics, 2004
Summary Segmented line regression models, which are composed of continuous linear phases, have been applied to describe changes in rate trend patterns. In this article, we propose a procedure to compare two segmented line regression functions, specifically to test (i) whether the two segmented line regression functions are identical or (ii) whether the

Random changepoint segmented regression with smooth transition

Statistical Methods in Medical Research, 2020
We consider random changepoint segmented regression models to analyse data from a study conducted to verify whether treatment with stem cells may delay the onset of a symptom of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in genetically modified mice. The proposed models capture the biological aspects of the data, accommodating a smooth transition between the ...

Object segmentation with deep regression

2015 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2015
Object segmentation has constantly received much attention due to its fundamental role in scene understanding. Traditional methods formulate it as a structured prediction problem, represented by graphical models (GMs). However, most GMs have difficulties in balancing the effectiveness of context modeling and efficiency of model inference. In this paper,

Logistic Regression-HSMM-based Heart Sound Segmentation

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2015
The identification of the exact positions of the first and second heart sounds within a phonocardiogram (PCG), or heart sound segmentation, is an essential step in the automatic analysis of heart sound recordings, allowing for the classification of pathological events.

Segmented relationships to model erosion of regression effect in Cox regression

Statistical Methods in Medical Research, 2010
In this article we propose a parsimonious parameterisation to model the so-called erosion of the covariate effect in the Cox model, namely a covariate effect approaching to zero as the follow-up time increases. The proposed parameterisation is based on the segmented relationship where proper constraints are set to accomodate for the erosion.

Segmented Cox Regression (60 Patients)

2012
Cox regression assesses time to events, like death or cure, and the effects of predictors like comorbidity and frailty. If a predictor is not significant, then time-dependent Cox regression may be a relevant approach. It assesses whether the predictor interacts with time. Time dependent Cox has been explained in Chap. 56.

A fuzzy clusterwise regression approach to benefit segmentation

International Journal of Research in Marketing, 1989
Abstract An algorithm for fuzzy clusterwise regression (FCR) is proposed which can be used for benefit segmentation within the framework of preference analysis. The method simultaneously estimates the models relating preference to product dimensions within each cluster, as well as the parameters indicating the degree of membership of subjects in ...
