Origin of Seismicity in Italy as a Clue for Seismic Hazard

2023
Italian seismicity is generated by the ongoing subduction of the European lithosphere beneath the Alps, and the Adriatic lithosphere beneath the Apennines. The two belts are extremely different due to their opposite polarity relative to the inferred underlying ‘eastward’ mantle flow.

Seismic waves and seismic barriers

Acoustical Physics, 2011
The basic idea of seismic barrier is to protect an area occupied by a building or a group of buildings from seismic waves. Depending on nature of seismic waves that are most probable in a specific region, different kinds of seismic barriers are suggested.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis for Induced Seismicity

2014
Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis is currently the most common approach to seismic hazard analysis. For application to induced seismicity, a major challenge is the fact that the hazard is inherently nonstationary. In this paper we describe the theoretical extension of PSHA to a non-stationary context.
