Seismic Analysis of Cross-Laminated Multistory Timber Buildings Using Code-Prescribed Methods: Influence of Panel Size, Connection Ductility, and Schematization

, 2016
This paper investigates the seismic analysis of multistory cross-laminated timber (XLAM) buildings. The influence of different parameters such as wall geometry, vertical load level, friction, and, most importantly, connection stiffness, strength, and ...

Evaluation of Damping Ratios for the Seismic Analysis of Tall Buildings

, 2017
This paper examines damping ratios in tall buildings in California inferred from motions recorded in instrumented buildings during earthquake motions. A total of 41 measured seismic responses from 14 buildings with 20 or more stories are analyzed using a

Seismic analysis of Pelješac Bridge

Bridge Structures, 2009
The construction of a new 2.4km long bridge, crossing the sea strait between the Croatian Mainland and the Pelješac Peninsula to provide the fixed road link between the whole of Croatia, has just begun. The bridge location is in a highly seismic zone with the design ground acceleration of 0.41g and on extremely bad soil.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis at Regional and National Scales: State of the Art and Future Challenges

Reviews of Geophysics, 2020
Seismic hazard modeling is a multidisciplinary science that aims to forecast earthquake occurrence and its resultant ground shaking. Such models consist of a probabilistic framework that quantifies uncertainty across a complex system; typically, this ...

Seismic graph analysis to aid seismic interpretation

Interpretation, 2019
During the seismic interpretation process, geoscientists rely on their experience and visual analysis to assess the similarity between seismic sections. However, evaluating all of the seismic sections in a 3D survey can be a time-consuming task. When interpreters are working on a data set, a common procedure is to divide the cube in increasingly finer ...

Shear Deformation and Sliding-Based Fiber Beam-Column Model for Seismic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Coupling Beams

, 2016
Conventional RC coupling beams have been widely used as key energy-dissipation components in frame-core tube structural systems for high-rise buildings.

Fragility Analysis and Seismic Record Selection [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Structural Engineering, 2011
This paper explores the influence of spectrum-matched and amplitude-scaled ground motions on the development of fragility functions for structures. The quantification of the influence of these two types of ensembles on ground motions in predicting demands of structural and nonstructural systems is addressed.

Time History Seismic Analysis [PDF]

open access: possible, 2013
In the case of design or assessment purposes the seismic capacity of the structural system should be computed for different seismic hazard levels by means of linear or nonlinear time history seismic analyses using a number of properly selected ground motions.

Pattern analysis of seismic records

GEOPHYSICS, 1987
The three steps in automated analysis of seismic records are trace matching, event detection, and seismic zoning. Our algorithm matches traces by comparing sequences of peaks on neighboring traces and edits pairs of peaks identified as similar for consistency in trend across and down the record.

Hydraulic Fracturing Induced Seismicity in the Southern Sichuan Basin Due to Fluid Diffusion Inferred From Seismic and Injection Data Analysis

Geophysical Research Letters, 2020
In the southern Sichuan Basin, China, the recent increase in the seismic activity has been suspected to be related to hydraulic fracturing stimulation for producing the shale gas.
