Probabilistic and Deterministic Seismic Hazard Assessment in Amol Center, a City in North of Iran [PDF]

open access: yesIranica Journal of Energy and Environment, 2012
In this paper, the peak ground acceleration over the bedrock (PGA) is calculated by a probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard assessment. The active fault map of the region is prepared. For this purpose, all active faults in a radius of 100 km of

关于抗震防灾的若干思考

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2022

English teachers' journeys since the 2020 Iteration of Black Lives Matter

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The 2020 resurgence of Black Lives Matter (BLM) mobilised students in England to demand greater representation of racially minoritised voices in English curriculums—a call highlighted by stark inequity: just 1.5% of GCSE texts studied are by racially minoritised authors, despite racially minoritised students comprising 38.0% of the student ...

Ensemble‐based soil liquefaction assessment: Leveraging CPT data for enhanced predictions

open access: yesCivil Engineering Design, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 23-35, March 2025.
Abstract This study focuses on predicting soil liquefaction, a critical phenomenon that can significantly impact the stability and safety of structures during seismic events. Accurate liquefaction assessment is vital for geotechnical engineering, as it informs the design and mitigation strategies needed to safeguard infrastructure and reduce the risk ...

The 1976 Guatemala Earthquake: ESI Scale and Probabilistic/Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis Approaches

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
A hazard assessment of the 1976 Guatemala earthquake (M = 7.5) was conducted to achieve a better definition of the seismic hazard. The assessment was based on the environmental effects that had effectively contributed to the high destructive impact of ...

Hyperledger Fabric for the (digitalized) lifecycle of construction products: Applied review on fastening technology

open access: yesCivil Engineering Design, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 9-22, March 2025.
Abstract Blockchain technology is a digital decentralized data ledger recording transactions in an encrypted format. Its implementation can potentially hold significant advantages for the built environment, particularly in manufacturing and building product usage aligned with Building Information Modeling (BIM). This paradigm shift toward decentralized

A Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis Method Incorporating Physics-Based Simulation and Ground Motion Prediction Equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science
The traditional approach to probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) relies on ground motion records, which restricts its application in regions with sparse seismic records or low seismicity.

Nationwide Earthquake Risk Model for Wood-Frame Houses in Canada

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2019
Quantitative seismic risk assessments involve hazard characterization, exposure database, vulnerability assessment, and uncertainty modeling, and promote consistent risk management actions, when conducted systematically across a country.

Slip versus dilation tendency parameter space as a tool for prospecting structurally controlled geothermal systems in greenfield: insights from the greater Ruhr region

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study highlights that with the static and time‐dependent evolution of slip versus dilation tendency parameter space, structurally controlled deep geothermal systems can be selected within areas of higher permeability and lower seismic hazard. Abstract Faults play a vital role in the Earth's hydraulic system by facilitating fluid flow when dilating

Hazard zonation for potential earthquake-induced landslide in the eastern East Kunlun fault zone

open access: yesOpen Geosciences
Based on probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, the seismic landslide hazard research considers the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of seismic peak ground acceleration, which integrates the factors such as seismic intensity, location ...
