Imaging seismic reflections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The goal of reflection seismic imaging is making images of the Earth subsurface using surface measurements of reflected seismic waves. Besides the position and orientation of subsurface reflecting interfaces it is a challenge to recover the size or amplitude of the discontinuities.

Segmentation of Seismic Images

open access: yesProceedings of the 31th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Vision. Volume 2, 2021
In this paper we propose a method of seismic facies labeling. Given the three-dimensional image cube of seismic sounding data, labeled by a geologist, we first train on the part of the cube, then we propagate labels to the rest of the cube. We use open-source fully annotated 3D geological model of the Netherlands F3 Block.

Seismic Image Waves [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 1996
SUMMARY The concept of a seismic image wave is introduced and explained with the aid of some examples. Seismic reflector images in various domains (e.g. depth-migrated reflections in the depth domain or common-offset reflections in the time domain) behave like snapshots of elementary body waves.

Fundamentals of Thermal Transport and Energy Conversion in Ultra‐High Temperature Ceramics: From Microscale Mechanisms to Macroscopic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review critically examines thermal transport and radiative properties of ultra‐high temperature ceramics for hypersonic flight, advanced nuclear systems, and next‐generation energy conversion devices. It explores phonon–photon–electron interactions, microstructural engineering, thermoelectric conversion, and machine learning‐accelerated multiscale

Atomic Scale Control of Thermal Conductivity in LaMnO3/SrMnO3 Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Interface‐dominated cross‐plane thermal transport in [(LaMnO3)m/(SrMnO3)n]10 superlattices can be controlled by the octahedral rotation/tilt angle φOOR of the MnO6 octahedra, which as well is controlled by the “m/n” ratio. ABSTRACT We report atomic scale structure and phonon thermal transport in (LaMnO3)m/(SrMnO3)n/SrTiO3(100) superlattices (LMO/SMO ...

Redescription of the Triassic cynodont Cistecynodon parvus and reassessment of its phylogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Cynodontia is an important subclade of Therapsida that first occurred in the late Permian. It includes extinct subclades which are the non‐mammaliaform cynodonts and Mammaliaformes, with the latter ultimately giving rise to crown mammals. The systematics of non‐mammaliaform cynodonts has been extensively studied and is relatively well‐resolved,
